Great little documentary. Would love to see more about historical buildings in Champaign-Urbana, like the WPA funded buildings of the Art Deco City Building of Champaign, Champaign Central High School, and the University of Illinois student union.

I'm a Jasinski. My Great Grandpa was Al. Very sad how town has become. I'm riding my bike around documenting caves. Grandmother was a nurse at the state schools from her graduation till her retirement. Thank you for this. Cheers. Meet you at the ol' Fleckenstein brewery.

I have a VERY interesting story about my experience with a building that I moved from that farm to my place by Madison Lake. I never fully believed in supernatural beings until this experience! I’d love to share it with you.

It's funny how it's all about the white people? Honestly, the ones who suffered the most were the natives. The reason why the natives revolted is hardly , if ever mentioned. And the number of natives seems to be greatly exaggerated . But like Robert Bruce said, history is written by those who have hanged heroes.

I didn’t recognize anyone. I was a 5 year old living in Minneapolis in 1957! A very nostalgic film. I Remember many people at that time who looked similar to these folks, but as I said, they were in Minneapolis! 👍🏽

I am from Minnesota was raised on a farm by perch lake a couple miles from Truman. We didn’t have much but hard work and family. People were hard in those day and even harder in the days before. I have a few stories myself that have came from grandmother, uncles and aunts.

My family had a family of ancestors move to MN. from Germany in 1956. They eventually moved to New Ulm and lived above that meat market. As a young child, I distinctly remember visiting that Rudolph Bartels family on the 2nd floor of that building.

I just found a lovely group photo at an estate sale of the ballroom or dinning hall of some sort at this hotel. It’s from the 50s it says on the back and it a luncheon for the ‘Stanley ladies’, not sure what that means. I read online that it was purchased in 2020 for $1 million and Hilton plans to put $15 million into it to reopen it.

"The popularity started to overwhelm the town. So in 1971, the CHAMBER OF COMMERCE decided to end it." What?? 80,000 attendees spend a LOT of money. Some real forward thinkers there.

They just made the decision to tear ol George's down....glad I found this so I could get some insight on the location. my only knowledge is from riding my bike with my son through the alley way and wondering what it would be like to explore that place.

My Grandad as a young man went to live and work on the family dairy farm at New Ulm. I wife does family genealogy and we had several of my family who lived in New Ulm. We visited about ten years ago and fell in love with city. Reminded us very much of our hometown of Quincy IL which has a huge German heritage. Love that root and other beer made there!

I loved New Ulm and I rented a basement area from an older couple named Oswald. They’d be gone by now, but she could have been their daughter-in-law. I lived there in 1977.

They were still there in the 1960s. We made a pilgrimage from Hutchinson a couple times a year for sausage. Then we couldn't find the City Meat Market any more. Was that a name change we didn't know? If not, I certainly hope someone bought the recipes and are using them.

What a beautiful tribute. I found this video searching for info on my signed Framed photograph of Bishop Whipple. It's rather large measuring 13.25 X 10.5 and Bishop Whipple is seated, wearing a surplice, priestly stole and skull cap. The signature at the bottom reads: Yours Faithfully H. B Whipple Bishop Of Minnesota It's a wonderful piece of History .

New Ulm new pop- is over 15,000 people not not 13,238 is wrong . We have a lot of new people in town and everything that they build in the city. You all need to change the population. Ive been here more than 20 years now and ive seen New Ulm grow alot from 1997 till now 2018. So you people need to do your math right even me am not a city council and i know a lot of everything.
