Wow, the koa on the I’iwi Johansen tenor is stunning, and on top, truly beautiful inlay. Again, wow! And a beautiful “whole” resonant sound. Excellent.

I see that the “Whale Tenors” are “Kyas Signature” models. They are very cool and beautiful instruments. Admittedly, I had not been aware of Kyas as a player until I had signed up for the Brown County (Indiana) Ukulele Festival, which is this coming January, where he will be an instructor. I look forward to it. I am continually appreciative of the new adventures I have found along the ukulele path (which I started on in 2020, after many years as a guitar player, as an instrument to play for my Mom as she was traveling the final part of the Alzheimer’s journey - so, my love of ukulele is kind of a final gift she left me, . . . one I will always be thankful for). I always find new cool stuff in the TUS podcasts, like the “Kyas connection” here to some of your featured instruments. Thank you.

Been eye-ing at a chance to get that evasive Hummingbird as I love the Moonbird sound with some extra bells and whistles on the looks dept.... but that Bluebird though seems I'm being swayed to it 😍

Thank you Andrew, Kalei and Corey for a wonderful showcase for the festive season. May you have a wonderful break, you guys deserve it. All the best to you, your staff and families and a prosperous New Year. Loved the aNueNue tenor run through, a bird for every season. The Johansen’s are sheer master Luthier instruments that deserved to be played expertly. Have a great day

Lovely instruments all around, but for me, it’s Kamaka for the win. In every size. There’s just something special about those instruments; they have a unique and identifiable sound and sweetness, and huge ability to shift tonal colours.

For information as i am from paris, la pompe means the pump, it could be referring to a bike pump (not sure of that) in the 50 in Paris when Stephane Grappelli and Django played.

Does any one know the chord he’s playing after Am? I think it’s supposed to be a Gm but I can’t figure it out from the fingers positions.

I discovered this in 2024. Absolutely blown away. His vibe - the combination of his singing and his playing - it is incredible. I would love to find more of his work, but it's hard to spot him on the web - most of the material seems to be 10-12 years old. What happened to Zach? How could I find more of his music?...
