The crucifixion scene was not totally accurate historically. The Romans routinely crucified the condemned totally naked, irrespective of whether they were men or women. Neither Xena nor Gabrielle would have been executed wearing either a loincloth or a mamarai ( breast covering ), instead both would have been crucified stark-naked.
