Nice Montage. I grew up just loving these cabover tractors. Went to a truck show in Spokane Wa. 1978 when the CL9000 was introduced and got a couple of great pics with one in the front of the main building on display.

Driving in CA. in the 80s cabovers were about the only choice you had. I drove a CL-9000 for about 2 weeks, and I hated it. Top heavy with cab air ride that was slow to respond, and the shifter absolutely sucked. Not to mention the nosebleed from climbing into another stratosphere to enter the cab.

Transtars are old school..these are “new” trucks
@cabovercrazy58184 ай бұрын
Going off that theory aren't transtars new trucks compared to Emeryville's?? Not really new trucks, just not as old as some!!
@hekterr66774 ай бұрын
You’re right….I forgot about an old roach Emeryville I hauled a few load of tomatoes with back In. the 70s.it was a hot rod with a 262 and a 10speed But still more fun than a Bubblnose Freightliner with a 200 Cummins and 5/2 two stick…

Great old pictures from back in the day. Would be cool to know the where abouts of these old rigs. I know the brown and gold with the biggest sleeper was at a truck driving school in Texas. Sure alot of these feel into disrepair and got parted or wrecked out.

I noticed two Australian trucks Simon kerswels Aerodyne called Aero cat ran a 3408 and the yellow and white 142 Scania called sundowner both ran around mid 80s

Simon Kerswell Kenworth, absolute weapon when the Caterpillar got back from a rebuild in the States. 700 hp V8 Cat. It was the only truck on the highway back in early 90's running Melbourne to Adelaide to Perth that no one & I mean NO ONE could round him up. Even Constantino's V8 Mack Super Liners with 100 mph diff ratio struggled. I was out there amongst back in the cowboy days of trucking in Australia. Apparently Kerswell do the express mail Melbourne to Perth in 36 hours. It was the Apex Truck hands down. Cheers Louis Kats 👍

cabovers are nothing but JUNK, and if anyone drives them, they would be first at the wreck. they are most DANGEROUS in Bad Weather! this one in the picture is called a Road Commode, 290 10 speed and cabovers are nothing BUT JUNK! they should condemn these pieces of junk! far too many new ppl being allowed to drive now & the new people are very poorly trained and junk overs aren't for the faint at heart!!!
