Your view is actually tunnel vision. If you believe this is the only planet in the universe with life and you believe there is no such thing as good or evil then you would think humans are just confused. You dont have an umbrella view and because you dont you dont understand evil or the existence of evil entities on this planet or in this vast universe filled with life that is interfering with good. This weakens you your chances of survival whem evil runs rampant. And being a voice for truth you undermine others ability to survive.

Sadly even more relevant in today's climate. Trump and Midi and others are *purposely* following the playbook used by the Germans in the1930s.

The same rubbish as usual. If you don't like what the nazis did, than stop doing the same things to innocent animals. If you think humans have the right to torture or kill them for experiments, food or fur, you are not better than the SS. Simple as that.

And this is exactly what has been going on in Palestine for the last decades. Zionists call the Palestinians rats, vermin, subhuman... And look what happens... a mass genocide. This, mr Fry, you ALSO need to mention these times!!! I have had tons of respect for mr Fry; but the zionist situation in Palestine and the huge silence about it from mr Fry gives me the creeps. This means that even someone who stands out as an absolute humanitarian, super intelligent person, can ALSO shut his eyes on horrific situations if it is HIS group doing the horrific things.

The aggressive secularism/atheism (i.e. New Atheism) that Fry has signed up to is perfectly capable of becoming another nazi type regime, afterall, atheism unperpinned Naziism and Communism.

A common mistake is to believe that if someone "writes letter to their mother" they actually feel love and have humanity in them. The vast majority of people only portray love, or just express sentimentality, be it to their parents, "friends", children etc. Very few people will admit this, we're living in a world of lies.

I don't know. I admire Stephen's intellect immensely, but I think he might be missing something here. Yes, I agree that consistent use of dehumanizing language has an effect on how we view the human targets of that language, but can it really alter one's perception so dramatically that he views the systematic murder of hundreds of beings ('human' or not) as a mere technical matter, worthy of only a momentary, casual mention in a letter home? It's been my experience that people are much more easily convinced of things they're already inclined or predisposed to believe. There's a reason not everyone was a Nazi in 1930s Germany, or why not everyone is a Trump supporter in 2020s USA. I think there's something more fundamental at play here -- something that relates more to an individual's moral, ethical, intellectual and social makeup. That said, I'm always happy to hear from Stephen. One of my favorite humans.

If you want us to watch our language Stephen.... send us to Cambridge, or Oxford too. In the meantime.... Forgive people for their language transgressions. Either that or forcibly change the language they use from beneath them. Until that time....Anti Semitic means more than just Zionist protectionism. Neo Liberalism and neo conservatism would be Centrist political ideals.... and last of all, my favourite. Democratic Socialism wouldn't be referred to as communism.

The sad thing is that people will agree with this mentally - but the moment the crowd forms and the nooses come out, that agreement won't matter - because fear (of not fitting in) is more powerful than strongly holding to what one knows in their heart is right.

It is amazin how Mr. Fry is able to avoid the most simple fact that it were ordinary germans, normal germans you would normally meet in the street or in the shop, who did all these atrocities like if they were watering carrots. And for them it was absolutely normal to murder other people. And after the war nothing happened, they went from murdering people to watering carrots again.
@caroskaffee3052
@caroskaffee3052 Жыл бұрын
no I think you are confused. the "normal germans on the street" did not put jews in the gas chambers. they did in fact vote for the nsdap and were amazed by hitler and his promises. they were "mitläufer" but not active murderers. also a lot happened after the war, in the nuremberg trial the biggest nazis were convicted and killed and the gdr put nazis in the old concentration camps, there happened a nationwide "entnazifizierung" and germany still pays millions of war reparations to this day. nazi symbols and rhetoric is banned, holocaust denial is illegal and no other country has done so much in educating future generations and dealing with its horrible past that openly

One thing that human created kill more people than any firearm or accident or natural disaster, which is 'Language'. Language is more dangerous than the galactic calamity. Two words can determine a fellow human destiny in the past millennia, which is kill him, kill them, execute him, execute them, release them, and so forth. We are more dangerous than a bacterium. We talk about destiny and God, but we create a word to alter them.

It's quite incredible when you here this story repeated numerous times in your life and the key principal never changes in that how easily people can be turned against others. During the pandemic I was mortified to hear Australian politicians like Lambie, McGowan, Andrews, Hazzard and many many others talk about their fellow Australian's as if because they chose justly to protect their personal sovereignty they were somehow betraying of the people, unworthy of human rights or liberty and should be punished. Of course here we are post the events and though the truth continues to be buried by the most powerful those who dare explore the truth realise the betrayal was not at the hands of those who refused. Much like post WW2 German's, today some of my fellow citizens fall silent pondering why and how it was they were so easily mislead in turning their thoughts against others by no other means than by the power of political, corporate and media persuasion, because it wasn't the science. The real victims of such event's are the ones who are left suffering, shunned and silenced, their injuries pushed into darkened coridoors of the social conscience and forgotten. How long will it be that the true number of victims to these experiments are known ? Perhaps not in my life time, but the truth will one day be uncovered. What few understand is that a society experiences such event's as a dress rehearsal to tyranny, that terrifying time will soon be upon us. May God have mercy upon us all.

It is certainly true that words are important. Unfortunately today we are seeing the prohibition of free speech, many subjects are verboten, and unless you adopt the woke theology, you are labelled a bigot. Woke cla8ms to be anti racism, anti homophobic etc. Therefore if you express any ideas that conflict with woke, you are a racist, or a bigot.

Actually, there is another famous book and I'm sure Stephen Fry knows it, it is written by a German-jewish professor in philology, Victor Klemperer, it is called (in Latin):'Lingua Tertii Imperii' (the language of the Third Reich) in which Klemperer describes the whole linguistic arsenal of national-socialism, which used very often euphemisms to conceal their horrible reality: the here already quoted 'Endlösung', 'final solution' for extermination, being one of them, 'Sonderkommando', 'special operation' being another, and so on.

We do the same thing now with killing of animals. By using euphemisms we hide the reality of what we are doing on a daily basis. Extermination of sentient beings by the millions.
