I never thought they would do alabasta in the first place. When you looked at the chapter to episode count of season 1 it makes sense for season two to end before alabasta.

Hear me out, Season 3, Alabasta 7 episodes, last episode is Jaya

If they show tease Croc that would be cool, and then at the end of season 3, change Luffys meeting with Ace to the end, and while he's talking about the pirate that killed his crew mate, you show black beard doing it, tease Black Beard that way

It honestly sucks that Alabasta is not included in Season 2 because this isn't like the manga or the anime where we have to worry about the characters aging. The slower the live action goes means the cast will be that much older. Think about their ages when or if the live action gets to Wano or Egghead. That's probably 10 plus years and a lot can happen in 10 years.

I think the cherry blossoms falling is a great emotional end for the season. The live action is not a shounen, you don't always need a season final boss fight. There are other ways to satisfyingly end a season than a punch-fest that was built up all season. As a western example for Oda writing Zoro more as Mackenyu. After Tom Hiddleston's Loki became popular, Marvel Comics switched the classic older Loki design to match him, face, body type and even his whole vibe to match it closer to the movie version. Of course, that was also cause the movies were more popular than the comic books at the time, but still. Sometimes an actor embodies a live action role so well that audiences and original writers embrace it. I guess more dry sarcasm from manga Zoro, haha. I don't mind. I think OPLA Zoro being deadpan is pretty hilarious.

This makes me hopeful that there will absolutely be a 3rd season, it would be a shame to have all this set up in season 2 for Vivi and Alabasta just to not get renewed for a 3rd season. It would feel unfinished and unsatisfying.

The discovery that the man who's diametrically opposed to Luffy in the bar and yet shares the exact same view about piracy is Blackbeard, is PEAK CINEMA and I wouldn't want for it to be compromised for an end of season cliffhanger.

Thank god they’re slowing down. The first season felt insanely rushed to the point where they literally changed the story quite a bit and didn’t include certain characters. I will still always dislike the live action for one piece because of the cartoony nature of the world but I’m glad that the live action enjoyers get a better product

Tbh I would make Alabasta a whole Season, with maybe half of Jaya as the final episode to introduce Blackbeard. Jaya is a very specific arc that can be very much divied into two halves, and I think it may work.

That's really good actually. They still haven't even reached Lougue Town. Hoping they don't cut Laboon, which sounds dumb but remember Hachi is important later on (to the point he's probably even more important than Arlong was or at least just as so) and he got cut from Arlong Park. There's also Whiskey Peak and Little Garden, then Drum Island. I can see them hinting it at the end like they did with Smoker.

Being worried about Alabasta being included just never made sense to me. Sure, it's long but so what?? 1. It's only long because of the fights and roaming around Alabasta (going from Eremalu to Yuba and other places) and 2. THE EPISODES ARE ALMOST AN HOUR LONG. 3 episodes is EASILY enough to do Alabasta with 1 episode being the final fight. You can have Logue Town in episode 1, Reverse Mountain + Whiskey Peak in 1 episode, Little Garden 1 episode, Drum Island 2 episodes and Alabasta 3 episodes and THAT'S FINE, but it's completely stupid on whoever's part where the series is forced not to include Alabasta in season 2 if it's really not included. But leaning into Blackbeard and some other aspects like Smoker and even Crocodile and setting up Alabasta isn't too bad, but I'm not really that happy and don't like Alabasta not being included. I honestly doubt Alabasta isn't on here. Oda has trolled before and it would get good engagement. I mean, there were some pictures and rumors and shit of the supposed Dragon's scenes in Logue Town last season I think Koroto showed. I genuinely don't think Logue Town wasn't filmed in some sort of way.

I am not upset that alabasta will probably be its own season quite the contrary but I am worried that these locations won't be able to fill out a whole season and that they will probably have bad pacing through them and to people that say it is moving too fast do you really want something like toei pacing into this?

After I watched the live action series, I wanted to try and watch the rest of the anime from where I was at, and oh boy did I want to kill myself. Orange Town had a few too many episodes, but I didn't think much of it. But then I got to the Syrup Village final battle... THEY STRETCHED IT OUT FOR LIKE 5 EPISODES WHAT THE FUCK?!?!?!?!?!?!

You know which character that can be a surprise foreshadowing that i haven't seen a lot talk about? Brook and his old crew. Reason? Their old ship is seen on the filming site some time ago. So yeah, we can definitely expect a lot more of foreshadowing this season

21:51 Sorry I'm commenting as I go along. Ending s2 on Jaya BEFORE going to Skypiea would be GREAT, actually. We don't need to end on big boss fight, that's so restricting for no reason and it doesn't fit OP's structure anyway bc OP arcs don't tend to end on that either, they end with enlarging your view of the OP world, developing the worldbuilding, teasing major themes and characters for future arcs while introducing the next one. If we split Alabasta from what comes before it, it makes perfect sense to end on Jaya: everything that happens there, and then them getting ready to go to Skypiea with reveal of who Blackbeard really is and him planning to go after Luffy. That would create hype for a new audience for sure.

Yes, he's badass and liked by many as a villain so I see the hype, but it takes away from the encounter in Jaya which is SO important to the storytelling and characterization. The dichotomy of having two characters so in tune with their beliefs about freedom and dreams but then it's revealed that Blackbeard is actually a villain, the dude Ace was looking for, who took those beliefs in the total opposite direction compared to Luffy... it's just *chef's kiss* However, they DO have a canonical beloved character drop they can use at the end of Drum Island: Ace. Imagine the flashback to this badass character coming on Drum Island and suddenly with his presence alone, it no longer snows on a winter island where it has always snowed, as we've seen for several episodes, and he asks around about Luffy. And then tie that off with talk about the Will of D.

s2 and 3 being split like this makes a lot of sense in terms of storytelling and production, I expect quality, but i also fear for how long it will take to go ahead with future arcs bc you know, the actors are human and they age. It wouldn't be a problem with them in their 30s, but i can get too noticeable later on and like, if they drop a season every 2 years, that's too long.

My main worry is that just Alabasta on its own is a) not enough content for 8 episodes and it's b) very same-y. They'll have to add a lot of b-plot to keep it interesting, otherwise it risks the Punk Hazard fatigue. Or make the season shorter, which I don't want at all. I hope they'll bring in the Revolutionary Army early. It makes sense that the RA would be interested in what's going on with Alabasta and the show could tease Sabo early. Having both Ace and Sabo introduced at the same time would be narratively delicious.

im not sure showing blackbeard at the end of season 2 would make the most sense, i think showing crocodile completely for the first time makes more sense i think. because blackbeard only becomes a character in jaya, and thats still too far away since season 3 will be alabasta....

The one good thing we know is that the production said they will film Season 2 and Season 3 simultaneously. So season 3 might come out 1 year or less than a year later after season 2.
