Nice, hopefully it will be better with all the sun this week. How’s the Capra? I’m debating on a Capra 29 vs jeffsy but am worried about too much travel on the Capra.
@hughieross Жыл бұрын
I will avoid The Luge for a couple of weeks to let it dry out and to give the trail building team the chance to work on that section. I don’t want to ride it again and potentially contribute to the trail damage. The Capra is a beast downhill. This was only my 2nd ride on it, but on my 1st ride I set a new PR down The Luge. If you can only have 1 bike, Jeffsy or Izzo would be great choices. I have the Izzo as well, so I was comfortable getting the Capra and having bikes at either end of the scale

How’s the suspension handle trails littered with square edge rocks and roots? Especially the rear end, have read some folks say it’s very harsh. Really on the fence wanting to order the comp mode of the Izzo.
@hughieross4 жыл бұрын
Andrew - I have the Pro Race. The rear shock is excellent! I have it dialled in really nicely - very little movement on climbing and it soaks up roots etc really well - I get all the travel without bottoming out. It’s the fork I am finding harder to set up - it deals with the small bumps really well, but is am not getting full travel out of it, even after increasing the sag a bit. I need to keep playing with the fork setup. Overall, I love the bike. Coming from a 100mm full sus XC bike I really notice how cable the Izzo is particularly on the descents, but also is very agile and climbs really nicely. In fact, it claims so well that I barely use the lockout.

I ordered an Izzo (yet to arrive). My trails have a bit more rocks and other general trail chunk but do you have any issues with the low BB and pedal strikes? Do you have the flip chip in the high or low setting?
@hughieross4 жыл бұрын
Great choice of bike! I don't think you will have any issues of rocks etc. I have mine in the low setting and have had perhaps 3 pedal strikes, but only when pedalling and turning a corner so the inside pedal strikes. With better technique, it wouldn't strike. I haven't felt the need to put it in the high setting yet. Enjoy yours when it arrives!

Another quality video, not ruined by you narrating your every thought. I have a question for you. Do you think the IZZO could handle small-medium jumps just fine? I like to play around a jib on my bikes, but never really tried on a 130mm travel bike. I'm approaching the day I get to order a new bike.
@hughieross4 жыл бұрын
Thanks Michael. Yes, I think it could handle small to medium jumps. I am not really in to jumps myself, but the bike is built so well that I think I don't think you would have an issue. Where a longer travel trail nike might soak up the jumps a bit easier, you might have to be more conscious and deliberate with your technique on the Izzo. Think of the bike as a great all-rounder. Climbs well, descends well, great in singletracks, lightweight and agile, enough suspension for jumps and rough stuff.

Have you, and/or do you plan on taking this anywhere with a bit more elevation, or more technical descending? It really looks like a great all-rounder for UK riding, especially for those of us nowhere near any mountains, but would be good to know how it handles the odd day at a bike park or bigger mountains
@hughieross4 жыл бұрын
I would love to take it somewhere with more elevation and with more technical riding. I was considering riding Snowdon on it but I think the weather has turned bad too much now. I hope to move to Southern California early next year, so will take it to big bike parks and do some mountain riding. I think it would be great for mountain riding, but not ideal for big jumps are serious mountain stuff, where a longer travel would be advisable.

I don’t have an issue with the stock tyres, but I am coming from XC tyres so pretty much anything would be an improvement over the XC tyres! In theory, upgrading the stock tyres is a great idea - when the time comes, I won’t get more Forekaster tyres - I will get something with more side grip
