Both are very nice. The lighter wood that you used as a base creates a nice line, top and bottom, looks a lot better than I imagined it before you started turning it. The segmented layer really sets these off though. It not only added that much more height and gave more glue surface, but added another color and texture to the bowls. Well done!

Very nice. I felt like a little more sanding after the sealer may have improved it. You never know. Great canister that should do well for you.
@ramwoods2 ай бұрын
@@DougMilleratWoodSpunRound Thank you. I agree, but also the sanding was removing all the color. Had wanted a little more color inside the grain than ended up with. In retrospect, should have maybe tried another coat of dyed sealer to further help finish it…

Thank you. Like using the veneer to add color, delineate the different patterns and honestly, sometimes to help hide any damage, angle or cutting flaws when glueing the pieces together.

Have to say I was quite concerned when I saw you were holding it in your chuck with plywood tenons. I’ve had them come loose and seen many others turn loose with catastrophic results. You were fortunate and ended up with a beautiful canister. Great work.

Beautiful!! What did you stain it with? Food coloring and denatured alcohol? …if you dont mind me asking.😁
@ramwoods4 ай бұрын
Thank you! Don’t mind at all. Used Keda Liquid Alcohol Dye for this piece. Used denatured alcohol to thin the dye for wiping on the wood. It drys pretty quickly and gives a nice tone to the wood. Was darker than I wanted, so just sanded it down to the color desired. www.amazon.com/Vibrant-Dye-Liquid-Offered-Color/dp/B01J2NO2OA/ref=asc_df_B01J2NO2OA/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=693071297233&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=17161408822033689796&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=m&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9012138&hvtargid=pla-493937581198&psc=1&mcid=f9f7f4437c783cc99bc162f6469df5ba&gad_source=1
