Thank you! My Grandfather Erwin came from Olive Hill, KY in the late 1890's. He was a railroad man his entire life and just kept moving west. It's good to see what a glorious place this is! Hope one day to go back & explore.

Thanks Bill. We were out in KY in the summer looking at places and had one all picked out. When we got back out here we had a knock on the door and were informed that they would 'likely be eminent domaining' our farm for a canal project. Which meant we had to pull it off the market because nobody would buy it with that hanging over it. They tell us it will be a year or two before they do the eminent domain so in the meantime we're hanging in limbo stuck here. Oh well. Anyway, thanks for another KY drive.

Beautiful. So peaceful. Videos of the mountains are all I'll have for a while I guess. We were out in KY 2 months back looking at property. We were just about to put in an offer on a place and put our farm here in Commiefornia up for sale, and a guy showed up at our door yesterday and said they were planning a new canal project and it was going to run across our farm and they were going to use eminent domain to take all or part of our property. It's still in the planning stage so they're not sure how much property they'll take or where. They don't have all the funding and approvals yet so it might be a year or so they said. Right. The last big project like that they did around here took 20 years to get funded and approved from the date they announced it. So now we're stuck here because no one would buy the property with that hanging over it. I guess I need a new retirement plan. Anyway, sorry to grouse, and thanks for the video.

Know those Carter City roads well...the ol' tummy REALLY goes through an adventure from South Shore to Carter City on Route 2 to Olive Hill or Route 7 to Grayson...when we got to Mamaw's she always had the Pepto-Bismol ready for us! No wonder Pepto was Carter County's biggest selling stomach remedy!

Nice video Bill. My husband's family comes from Olive Hill, KY, apparently from the Gee family. Interesting to see what the geography looks like. Hi grandma left in 1924, but I imagine it still looks very similar!
