One of the reasons I can’t Nirvana is Steve politely went out of his way to write them, give them guidance and ultimately record them for a pittance and they were snobby enough to think it needed changes. Steve RIP, of course refused to re-engineer any of In Utero’s recording, he’s obviously not some moronic gift horse whose gonna open his mouth for your whiney MTV-cockloving kiddies, and he should have politely told them “No way man. Clear out, I mean Jackshit to you, I guess, go give Butchy Vig a suck job and another 30k for more overpolished grunge whose musical fad is already on life support, tried to help you (snot-nosed indie-rock fratboy-fan based-assholes and you wanted to put a put the musical equivalent of a sharpie mustache on my on my Van Gogh interpretation of your mediocre band that could be putting out a great record if to let me do what I do best!”

I'm still going to see them at Bogarts in Cincinnati. I'm getting this sneaking suspicion this will be the last run Barnes and SFU will make. Bittersweet, cringey, ridiculous and probably fun in some weird way. Fuck it lol.
@worldsheaviestjamband9312 күн бұрын
Chris Barnes even being sick is not the problem with the performance. Rhythm issues are EVERYWHERE both in the drums and guitars.

Why does barnes looks so bad? He barely moves. I know a great deal of it is due to the drugs and stuff, but he is much worse than others known for being addicts as well. Does he suffers from some illness or something?

Ray Suhy is kicking ass, man!! I'm glad to see Jack is back rippin' it but, man Chris's voice is totally done. He looks happy to be performing but, it's just not up to par where he was say 10-15 years ago...🤷🏼 Marco as always is just perfection on the drums...Super tight band. I've been a fan since I was about 8 years old.
@GreenGerg15 күн бұрын
To be fair, Chris said he was suffering from the flu, though he was very low in the mix. Ray was great to watch and loved his tone and energy. Not sure why the sound man put his levels up 2x louder than everything else. Couldn’t hear the drums or Jack very well either.
@VILLAINVEGAS2415 күн бұрын
@GreenGerg I understand about Chris but,It's very odd why Ray was drowning out basically everyone else. Sound guy big L. 😂 Thanks for filming the show, buddy. 👌🏼
@GreenGerg15 күн бұрын
@@VILLAINVEGAS24my pleasure. I agree, it was odd…the most unbalanced mix I’ve ever heard at a metal show. Nile and the two opening bands sounded fine with normal levels. It was weird.
@C77-C7714 күн бұрын
The mix is shit. All you can hear is Ray because the cam is right in front of him. lol
@GreenGerg14 күн бұрын
@@C77-C77 That's not why the mix sounds like that. I filmed SFU from the exact same front-row position that I filmed Nile, and you could hear every Nile instrument equally well. Same thing with Embryonic Autopsy. It was only SFU that had this unbalanced mix. Check it out for yourself: kzbin.info/www/bejne/Z5nNiWyfn5unbbs

his vocals are low in the mix, or the camera mic is mostly picking up Ray's guitar. Drums sound far off too.
@GreenGerg14 күн бұрын
@@C77-C77 His vocals were pretty low in the live mix. Bass, drums and Jack's guitar were low end of normal. Ray's guitar was cranked to 11+. Either the soundman was not paying attention during this set (the other bands all sounded fine), or Ray was way too loud and no one told him to lower it. I wouldve enjoyed the set a lot more if I could've heard all the instruments at a somewhat equal level. Still fun, but not ideal.

Nice Greg. I'm actually dubbing on cassette. I was at this show and it's the only Stooges I ever saw. I have (on tape) plenty of tours, Brick by Brick, Instincts, American Caesar, Skull Ring. First show was the Ritz during Blah Blah, but I wasn't live taping then. I did record this show, I remember sitting in the seats trying to keep calm. Yeah taping kinda ruins the experience a bit. Lost track of this one so thanks for posting!.
@GreenGergАй бұрын
I've always thought the taping thing is a bit of a trade-off. You capture something but lose the immersion.
@GreenGergАй бұрын
We have similar Iggy concert histories! My first show was also Blah Blah Blah at the Ritz 86! Then Bay Street in Sag Harbor 1987, The Ritz again and The Pier in 1988, The Academy 1993, Irving Plaza 1999, and then this one, which was my first Stooges show and last time I saw Iggy. Also interviewed him in 1988 which is up here on my channel too.
@kd350Ай бұрын
@@GreenGerg I wish it were easier to digitize. Yes I was at that Academy show and Irving Plaza as well. Roseland Ballroom I took my friggin' mother! Smattering of other bands taped: The Band, Danko, Buffalo Tom, Z, Dweezil, Bela Fleck, Black Crows, Hole, Dred Zepplin, Jorma, Hot Tuna, Page/Plant and Primus. Plus some local tri state bar bands like Ritchie Scarlet and Rat Race Choir. Lately I've been to Los Lobos, The Fixx and Greg Koch's Koch Marshall Trio but didn't record.
