Egypt looks exactly the same today. I am impressed by how pristine your footage is Greg despite the age of the film. Do you recall what camera you used? Thanks for this interesting upload.

Yes, I filmed this on an old beat-up Sony camcorder. I’d had it for four years at that point and taken it to countless concerts, and it was held together with tape and the lens was badly scratched.

Very cool, Greg. Damn good bass player for a great band that had a short shelf-life. I'd have saved it, too. Oh, and Ihope you were able to accommodate her needs to take care of that mailing!

Um, that’s why the title of the video says “Hall of Arms and Armor.” I’m a native New Yorker and have been to the Cloisters (a separate location) numerous times. Not sure what the point of your comment was

Pretty solid for an 80s noise rock band. Could have been a bit tighter here and there, and maybe benefitted from a slightly beefier guitar tone, but very interesting still.

I'm not usually one to be thrown emotionally off-kilter by the death of musicians or other celebrities, but when I heard that Steve had died, it legitimately gutted me and left me in a funk for days. The only other musician whose passing made me feel like that was Roky Erickson. He and Steve were both such unique, one-of-a-kind creative spirits who left an indelible mark on my psyche and spirit. It's still devastating to think that Steve is gone. Thanks so much for sharing this incredible set from the master so I can get to taste the experience of being there, all these years later ❤

Bowie was a proponent of the "snap-cut", with the sharpenedback of the point .. delivered in a parry, IIRC. .
@GreenGerg2 ай бұрын
Absolutely. We haven't gotten up to cuts yet... This first class (following the order of McLemore's book) covered 1) History of the Bowie knife (and why it is HEMA) 2) Parts of the knife 3) Grips 4) Stances 5) Guards 6) Blade presence 7) Thrusts with drills Next Sunday's class will start with thrust flow drill, and then dig into cuts and parries.

I discover this fabolous group in 2014. The music performance in this live is simply perfect and better by far than in cd records. They are really awesome. I love the themes: The World We Knew, Horror Express, The Souvenir of the Witch, Padre Pizzicato, The Hound of the Baskervilles, The Girl with the Sun in the hair, Kiss of the Night and Beware of Sentimentality (not in this video but yes in this live). The Misirlou cover is absolutly brutal and even quite better than the original. Oleg "Guitaracula" Gitarkin (Guitar King) is better than Dick Dale. Oleg is a living rockabilly legend. Messer Chups is the best surf rock group in the planet.
