This is a great idea. We tried to duplicate it in our shop but had a problem. The ACM would snap off while trying to bend it over. This only happened on one side. We tried different brands of ACM.

Hi Matt, That defintely sounds like a brand issue, the composition of the board is really important. Look for ones that indicate the board can be fabricated.

My job uses this but some knucklehead broke it to where you push the blade in, slide it down, it's suppose to click and you slide it back up. Now you can't push it in, if you slide it back up, the blade will score through the product again causing it to cut it again. It also shifts whatever you're cutting because the handle where you lock the product in place won't keep it in place....how can this be repaired. I don't know how long this job's had this machine but they look like they've had it for a very long time and no one has tried to fix it. Can you imagine having yo score over 5000 posters for a company and you have to use a broke machine the best way you know how?

Hello, thank you for your enquiry. For aluminium sheeting we would recommend the aluminium cutting head for the SteelTrak. If it's aluminium composite material, then the C2 head will be more than adequate for your requirements

What is the difference between the Excalibur 5000 and 3S? Starting a sign business where I will be cutting coroplast, foam, and pvc, and the 5000 is more widely available than the 3S. I know the 3S is more geared towards sign making shops where the 5000 is geared towards picture framing, but could I use the 5000 for signs? Thanks.

Hi, The Excalibur 5000 is designed for picture framers to cut lightweight materials like boards, glass and mountboard. The 3S is more robust but really if you are a sign business that will be cutting lots of boards you would be best served by a SteelTrak, especially if you will be cutting ACP regularly.

The problem with PDLC is you need to be applying pressure to both sides or slit the film. The problem with single side compression is it does cause delamination and can actually cause the conductive layers to no longer make complete contact with the PDLC layer. The only way I cut is either with scissors or use a scalpel once it's installed (i.e. holes in doors).
