I pretty much agree on the rankings, but I've rarely tasted anything close to any of these outside coastal CT. New York, NJ, Chicago, LA, I've found really good pizza in all of them, but New Haven still hits in a league all its own. Also agree with the folks that fresh/hot would make a difference, but as a cold pizza fan, I can see why it's not THAT big a deal.

Tourists have always gravitated to Mikes because its the tourist trap. I used to work in a college area in Boston and whenever I saw people with a box from Mikes I would always tells them to try modern next time and when they did, 90% of the people said it was better. Modern is by far the best cannoli around. Now Bovas is not on the level of either of those 2 but they are a 24/7. I've had some drunken nights where I would go to Bovas and get a Cannoli or one of their rice balls and it always satisfied.

Mikes is definitely a tourist trap. Modern ALWAYS has tasted better.Even though the Modern one you got wasnt filled to the modern standard. Bovas only has been in contention because they're 24 hours.mushy horrible

Rating cold pizzas that sit it the box for a long time is a ridiculous waste of time . Some of the pizza in the world and you ruin all of them

What is the point of eating cold pizzas?🥶
@johnarnold66234 ай бұрын
Not to point out the obvious. But you had a cup of coffee, a donut, one slice of pizza, and some take out. Not exactly a great way to attract some tourists. And Regina pizza is awesome. But anything you get in the north end is awesome.

Pepe's Bridgeport location is still making killer pies. Pepe's in New Haven fell off a little. It used to be the best, and they might be the best with toppings (especially their pepper & onion pizza).

@@FrancoPatriaVlogs just watched it, will defo go to a couple when in Boston. I work for an American company and the HQ is in Boston. Spoken about relocation. Would you recommend it as a place to live? If so why?
@FrancoPatriaVlogs5 ай бұрын
@@jdutczyn1I’d highly recommend South Boston, or “Southie”. It’s a more residential neighborhood that is walker friendly. Popular bars. Great food. Demographic is mainly 22-35 years olds. If you want higher class, I’d recommend Seaport District or Back Bay for the same reasons, except generally considered nicer and a bit closer to “tourist” Boston.

Well to be fair to him one to take some back to back to back to back so you can kind of compare in real time so be a little easy on him I have heard that modern and Sally's are the two best head and shoulders puppies has the name but he just second best at this point😊
@jimlutz80926 ай бұрын
Haven't tried bar. However, it clearly looks different in terms of being a much thinner crust. Sally's is very light on the cheese but generous on the sauce, which I like and which makes it my favorite in the New Haven area. But you have to get there and get in line well before it opens at 5pm. Another great apizza is Zuppardi's in West Haven, which is most like Modern of these four. But if I go to Pepe's or Modern or Zuppardi's, I order it with "light cheese" and in my opinion it's better that way. Less filling. Allows one to eat more tasty slices comfortably.

I'm in central CT so I rarely ever go to New Haven but there is a Sally's Apizza opening up in Wethersfield soon can't wait to try it. Pepe's expanded locations and opened up a restarant in West Hartford about 15 years ago so I tried that one and honestly felt it was overrated. One good New Haven style pizza that I tried and thought was really good is Christo's in Wallingford.

3.5 hour wait for that little thin crust pizza that would probably take two minutes to cook in the coal fire oven is absolute BS. I mean unless he's got 500 pizzas ahead of him this whole town must do nothing but eat pizza every day. It makes no logical sense other than doing it for marketing and exclusivity.
