Edwin Crossley Mercer isn‘t the runner-up to Jonas Kaufmann: the opposite is true for me. His voice makes me tearing up, and this Figaro-start does as well. Hasn‘t happened in a long time. Thank you so much, both artists!

Ah ! si seulement je partais d'ici, avec joie je te dirais à toi, monde : j'en ai bien assez. Endormez-vous, yeux las, fermez-vous doucement et heureusement ! Monde, je ne resterai pas plus longtemps ici, je ne possède aucune part de toi qui puisse être utile à mon âme. Ici je dois augmenter la misère, mais là-bas, là-bas je verrai une paix douce, un repos paisible. Mon Dieu, quand viendra l'agréable "maintenant " ? Quand voyagerai -je en paix et dans le sable frais de la terre et là, près de toi, reposerai-je sur ton sein ? Mes adieux sont faits, Monde, bonne nuit ! I understand why listeners like the oboist more 🙂. The oboist is just a live person, and a jew, if i am not mistaken. The German performer is so perfect, he looks like a God, or right to say 'Got' 🙂, watchers can feel themselves 'untermenschen' 🙈.
