Mr. Styczinski passed away today, March 27, 2023 at the age of 87. I had the privilege of meeting him in the early '70s. This is probably his best record of many excellent efforts. RIP, Alvin.

I discovered this 45 while hanging out at one of Eau Claire County, Wisconsin's local beer bars around 1971. For some reason, both sides were the most played selections on the jukebox at that place. Being a budding musician at the time, I was, despite my status as a novice, able to recognize excellence when I heard it. Not sure why that record should have been so popular when the collective mindset of my peers placed anything not rock'n'roll beneath notice. Maybe it was simply the driving, dominant bass drum. Anyway, a close friend who also saw more than the primal beat in those two songs, somehow determined that Mr. Styczinski's band played occasionally at a dance hall a few miles away. So we went to hear them. Not disappointing at all. Far from it, they were better technically and professionally than any local rock band. So I got to meet Alvin. Very nice fellow who did not talk down to a young punk fifteen years his junior. I've been hooked on his music ever since, and have been searching with no success for this particular disk. Thanks for posting!
