Why do they have vacuum tube bases? Octal base tubes would fit in those. Hmmm.

Careful with the verbiage. The contacts don't change state from NO to NC. NO contacts close, and NC contacts open, but they don't go from NO to NC. That can be very confusing for someone just starting to learn about switching and relays and stuff I know it was for me.

Went to school there in 2008. Great ROBOTs , nice facility , good instructors and staff. Just as you would expect from FANUC.

I've got an old Manerick DC drive I've struggled to hook up (w/confidence) So I've settled on using A Variac auto transformer.. My question, why not use a Variac with contactor instead? Is my variac (with a bridge rectifier of corse ) bad for my 90volt DC motor? It's a Minarik blue label

Stranded that s me.. but I can't find any videos explains how a drive works to the extent I can grasp what and how it should be wired to the motor. My drive has brake ff and Rev btw

Your voltmeter was measuring over 90 VDC. Wouldn't that damage the motor? Can you explain what is happening. Thanks for this!

Over time possibly, but typically they can handle some over voltage. I guess the way I think of it is that whatever the rating is of the insulation inside the motor determines what it can really handle lol. Giving it more voltage from the DC drive makes the motor more powerful...Faster. plus it's fun.

Would you mind sharing a power schematic and control circuit so I could get a better understanding? Great video btw
