A physical therapist stated the opposite, that original tissue is linear and that scar tissue is cross-stacked like sticks in a pile. I've also been told contradicting statements by professionals about original tissue and scar tissue being stronger than the other.

Thanks for you comment. The scar is a result of the body's repair mechanism after injury in many tissues. Scar tissue is composed of the same protein (collagen) as the tissue that it replaces, but the fiber composition of the protein is different; instead of a random basketweave formation of the collagen fibers found in normal tissue, in fibrosis the collagen cross-links and forms a pronounced alignment in a single direction. This collagen scar tissue alignment is usually of inferior functional quality to the normal collagen randomized arrangement. The collagen is denser and less elastic than normal tissue and proliferation of this highly cross-linked collagen-abundant scar tissue often results in diminished physiological function. For example, scars in the skin are less resistant to ultraviolet radiation. Also, sweat glands and hair follicles do not grow back normally within scar tissues. If it's a similar process, then it should be quicker than that of the epidermis as there is no final cornification stage.

If your prone to keloids scarring. How should you treat a vascular lesion on lip that has had laser treatment?
@florencebarrett-hill58154 жыл бұрын
If you are prone to keloid scarring a laser treatment should have been avoided. If the vascular lesion is a result of a laser treatment I would return to the clinic that performed the treatment and ask for further information.
@LB-me4ch4 жыл бұрын
@@florencebarrett-hill5815 Its my understanding certain areas of the body such as the lip does not keloid. You can have hypertrophic scarring at one location and not another location. I have a vascular lesion and was treating it with laser. I did not get a vascular lesion from the laser. Issue is the lesion was subcutaneous now it's a superficial lesion. More noticable to the eye.

No mention of keratohyalin or tonofibrils?
@Pastiche-Training6 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your comment. The detail of keratohyalin and tonofibrils are beyond the scope of this short video, (It covers the fundamentals) but are reviewed in some of our training courses.
@fedonable5 жыл бұрын
Hi. I was wondering the same thing too and actually i was looking for such an information on the internet cause my histology book does not refer further to that. What i have understood till now is that granules with keratohyalin that are stored in ribosomes get dispersed in the cytoplasm (once in the granular layer) and they help the filaments of keratohyalin to group and form the tonofibrils even further than it was happening in the previous layers of the epidermis. The nucleus and other organeles are broken down too and , thus , the keratinocells are fulled with only tonofibrils in the keratin layer. If you have found more information about that, i would be thankful if you could share your source :)
@kaiatkinson14392 жыл бұрын
@@fedonable Tonofibrils are cytoplasmic protein structures in epithelial tissues that converge at desmosomes and hemidesmosomes. They consist of fine fibrils in epithelial cells that are anchored to the cytoskeleton.

What if one has ichthyosis vulgarise, where if one does not over exfoliate it is unbearable!?
@Pastiche-Training7 жыл бұрын
Good question: ichthyosis is a barrier disorder skin condition often linked to a Filaggrin Gene deficiency. This deficiency prevents the corneocyte compaction process from completing cause a discrepancy in the formation of the multilamellar lipid structure. This in turn causes fast trans epidermal water loss (TEWL) This water loss is also detrimental to the homeostasis of the epidermis. Ichthyosis is a problem that requires daily care and although the skin feels a little better for the use of an exfolient it does not address the leading cause it only temporarily helps a symptom of the condition. Omega 3 is a good place to start repairing the barrier and the use of creams that are physiologically compatible to skin in preference to creams bought from department stores. Try Dermaviduals. Remember that this is a Gene deficiency and can only be managed not cured.
