Nice video. I did this hike with my two adult sons in August 2024. Unfortunately, we didn't start until almost noon, and the remnants of Tropical Storm Debbie came across the Central Range when we were at the summit of Big Slide. It got very wind, cold and wet and we made it back to the Garden just as darkness set in and the heavy flooding rains started. Thank you for sharing. Brought back great memories.

Hi Sara, Thanks for the video :) do you think we can bring a dog for the hike or it’s not appropriate? Thanks!
@marknadow5860 Жыл бұрын
There are many dogs on the trails, but the huts do not allow dogs. These are major climbs, it really depends on the level of your dog's experience

I've done that hike twice, once like you in March (2019) and again in summer 2020. I loved the remains of the hotel. The fire tower was cool but like it was for you the top was locked. I found out in summer 2020 that its a rattlesnake habitat on the top. Loved the view in the summer, there was what looked like an ocean of clouds below us. I bought micro spikes for future hikes after my winter experience there. Great video, it was a lot of fun watching you all have fun.

what smart watch is that? is it for hiking? does it track well?
@Sara-adventures2 жыл бұрын
I’m wearing a Garmin Fenix 6S! It’s a multi sport watch, and I wear it for everyday too. Great for hiking, running, biking, and a whole range of activities. Tracks pretty well - I like to use it for mileage and elevation gain!

Did you park right near the ranger station (825 North Lake Road?)
@Sara-adventures2 жыл бұрын
Yes! We parked there as the part further down North Lake Road and campgrounds was closed during winter
@JI774692 жыл бұрын
@@Sara-adventures Thanks for the reply. I went last weekend and it turns out they opened up the road so you can park right next to the lake. I don't know why the campgrounds website doesn't make clear what parking is open and what's not... Anyway, this hike has some of the most amazing views I've ever seen in my life! I definitely need to go back again when it's warmer and not muddy!

The wire rack and table took me a long time and I glued the joins because the wire was soft and didn’t hold. It was very hard. Then they didn’t give me enough wire, could have used addl two inches of silver and brown wire. It didn’t have one of the sofa arms, so I had to make one. Also I put the floor together differently because the board was warped, I had to clamp and glue the supports to it first then glue the whole thing to the unit, it worked. I think the instructions should have better photos.

Loved your video. I'm planning to hike this early June. Just curious, what was the name of the campsite you stayed at that had the bunks and do they have tent camping? Thanks!
@Sara-adventures2 жыл бұрын
Thanks! Yes, it’s the Wilderness Campground at Heart Lake through the Adirondack Mountain Club. Ours was the canvas cabin and they do have campsites available to set up tent. adk.org/locations/ Enjoy!
