This is uneven imo. So without a redo it's not a 1-1 comparison. The volume is much higher on the E100s, would have been great if they were even in volume (volume bias). And the high pass filter (oof!) is enabled on the Lewitt. Those high pass filters usually don't sound good and I find they sound much better without them enabled. But yip that's just my 2 cents :P

maybe that's a stupid question. can I let Amplifier (Brooklyn Bridge) play for 20 hours? (This is about headphones burn in)
@thetechcollector9495 Жыл бұрын
Honestly, if a headphone amp cannot handle 20 hours, you probably should not own it. Should be no problem if it is designed properly.

nice video, i have a question for you, do you think (in a room treated with classic amazon acoustic panels) will sound better a aston origin or a shure sm7b? cause i originally chosen the sm7b but after having discovered the aston origin with a warmer and more detailed sound and above all costing 100 dollars less I am undecided whether to pay a little more but to be on the safe side having a product already established and used at high levels or choose the aston that personally has a sound that seems to like me more. (and it costs less).

The OC18 sounds off. OC18 shouldn't sound like that. It's either recording via your laptop or it's backwards.

Surprisingly the Stellar sounded the best of the three. Unfortunately, as you said yourself the room acustics are so bad that nothing short of a lip mic is going to sound good. Also, the preamps on the the Roadcaster are terrible, then again the RCP is more of a toy aimed at podcasters and gamers. I would do the test again in a more acoustically friendly environment and using a digital recorder with semi decent preamps. You don't need to go to the extremes of installing a custom sound booth. When I'm away from a studio I've recorded under a blanket or even in a closet!
@BrooksSmith2 жыл бұрын
The TZ Stellar x2, like the Aston Origin, is a side-address mic, so you will definitely get better performance from it positioning it vertically. The Shure SM7b is an end-address mic, so you're all good there.

Hi -- thanks for the video - it is very informative - - I am considering replacing my OLD Resonessence Labs Invicta DAC (which does not support MQA) with a far more modern DAC -- the Mytek Brooklyn Bridge looks like it could meet 3 of my needs -- the 3rd being an MC Phono stage. Currently I have the Invicta on my desk and connect to my hifi via 10m balanced audio cables (the hifi being at the other end of the room). With the Mytek, if I wish to use the Phono Stage in the Mytek I would need to run a 10m USB cable from my MacBookPro to the Mytek, which would be located with the rest of the hifi. Which would you advise -- long usb cable or long balanced audio cables?

The origin is one of the best for speech, voice over......I compared the mic in a blind test with very many great mics and I ask them at the store...I like this little mic...What is it? ,And they started telling how and where etc..... I love the mic......but most people test mics and go with the feel of the looks and price been fooled by placebo effect or something..... Seems the human mind was designed to be fooled easily..... I would love to still compare the origin to the neumann U87 and the Brauner Phantera is another extra ordinary mic......But when comparing many mics the Phantera wasnt yet brought in and so was the neumann...... Their are comparsions out there but they dont do a good job...some people on KZbin as a litttle dumb.....that was how I first bought CV 12 Anvantone because of the reviews and when I brought it home and realize it was not better than mic AKG C 3000B . So I returned and started a big search till I found the Aston Origin
@groovekingdom65524 жыл бұрын
The Origin comes having the bass roll off engaged to remove bass rumble but would make sound thinner than other mics.....Otherwise the origin has a big full sound...

Guys, based on this review I decided to give the SR1a a try. I didn't like it. If you were like me watching reviews to decide whether to buy one just know that they sound perfect, but you listen more to the headphone than the music, and the fit, while better than Mysphere is still distracting. Plus, the adjustability of the earspeakers is very distracting too. I could not go a minute without fidgeting with them. Return shipping cost me $160.

Thanks for the review. Interesting how the closed one has less bass. I wonder if it would benefit with different padding in the cups? Since the Radiante has holes.

You need quite a preamp to power up a sm7b. So it's kind of hard to compare. Also, it's a dynamic mic, the Stellar x2 is a condenser mic. Each have their uses.
@marketweis4 жыл бұрын
I can tell you from years of working w/the SM7 in radio & production, that it loves to be worked fairly close, and it loves processing . I know conventional wisdom says to not go overboard on compression & EQ, but the SM7 only really opens up when you're pretty aggressive with those things.
@thetechcollector94954 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the input, I am actually testing the SM7b with the Soyuz Launcher now to see if that setup does anything for me.
@annekedebruyn77974 жыл бұрын
The 440 sounds like a bit how you would treat a mic in post production. A bit less rumble frequencies and a bit more hyped highs. Maybe a solid mic for people who isn't going through an EQ. Both not bad but for me I'd get the e100s. No ta fan of the Aston mics. The highs sounds a bit cheap.

Your review is very convincing. Coming from utopia, hd800 and heddphone, I was really considering on jumping into SR009S system until I came across of this video. I'm about to pick my RAAL with Jot R at the post office tomorrow and if this pair satisfies my needs, it could really save me plenty of $$$ from chasing SR009S or 1266.
@thetechcollector94954 жыл бұрын
Jek I hope it works out for you. I think the only thing that could be a downside is the environment you listen in as it blocks out no noise from people, dogs, etc. It also is not the end all in bass, but the bass is actually bass and not just random rumbles that I see a lot trying to imitate bass. Where did you find them in stock?

So far, very few reviews/impressions by non-mainstream folks only. I guess Raal wants to keep them as boutique as possible.

Random Rambles is there really a mainstream headphone review authority these days? Once Tyll left Innerfidelity it collapsed and is now gone. What is left out there?
@random_ramblings4 жыл бұрын
@@thetechcollector9495 Indeed, a void was created after Tyll's exit. Very few people are trying their best to do justice to this hobby. To name a few, I would count metal571, Resolve and Josh as mainstream reviewers.

I have to agree with your review, I really enjoy listening to all genres of music on the Raal SR 1a ear monitors. I like the fact you have 14 days to return the SR 1a for a full refund. I bet they get very few returns. I highly recommend them.

Think you may be right on the CAD sounding the best for your voice. The Lewitt, though, seems like a great deal, and thought it held its own well against one almost twice the price. Plus, that magnetic pop filter is pretty sweet.
