This is nothing new, I worked as a warehouse manager for close to 20 years for a John Deere dealership. I did this very thing to my John Deere L118 in 2004. Amazon has refit kits that included both the thrush washer bearing and the ball bearings to replace the standard wheel bushings, kit also includes new rubber caps and new e-clips. Another hint, add about 5 more pounds of air to the front tires. It will make steering about 50% easier.

aw darn. I was hoping to see the before and after difference in the ease of steering. I hear that before installing the needle bearings, you have to use two hands to turn the wheel while the mower is not moving, but after installing the bearing, you can turn the wheel with one finger like power steering. Is there really that much of a difference?
@Z71usa4 ай бұрын
It’s a noticeable difference in steering but on my yard it’s definitely no one finger steering easy. I would estimate about a 25% decrease in steering force needed. It’s worth the small amount of work required.
@bradbarefoot29863 ай бұрын
Read my reply It's not something to say it won't work, it will work. I did this back in 2004 on my John Deere L118, this will work on ANY 100 or 200 series mowers. And if you own a tractor mower other than a JD w/3/4" spindles it will work on those as well.
You have to know how badly this triggered my OCD! Except I have a teenager who'd make sure to drive me nuts putting the tools back on the wrong shelf. :)

I bought one in 2015, very good mower. I bent the deck on mine a couple weeks ago but after watching several KZbin videos, I was able to successfully beat the deck back into shape. It cuts perfectly even now. When it comes to oil filters, buy only Kawasaki or John Deere filters. Do not use a Wix filter, they don’t tighten up all the way and you will loose half your oil before you can turn the key off. I experienced this twice, didn’t learn my lesson first time.

@@drbcrb thanks,glad to hear you're enjoying it. Too often with my cub cadet I'll have to double cut to make it look good. That routine is getting old,especially when I've got other things to do. One of the guys I mow for has an older john deere and even it has a much better cut than my cub. He just doesnt wanna have to drive in every 2 weeks to keep the property up. I've worked out a good price for him and his neighbors who use their properties for atv vacation getaways so I get some side money and they can just enjoy themselves.

Use a business card to gap the coil to flywheel. Should be close
@donaldbanks19893 жыл бұрын
If it is not getting enough spark, take the spark plug out connect to the plug on top of the spark plug, place your thumb on spark plug electrode, pull starter rop,if you feel a small shock to your thumb it is getting a spark,if it is weak, check the magneto to see if it is dirty, you can use a fine grade peice of sandpaper to clean it, when you replace it use a peice of cardboard like a calling card.
@nickbrockelman3 жыл бұрын
thats pretty hardcore way of checking for spark man.... how about a spark tester or using a screwdriver between the engine and the bottom of the plug as an intermediary to ground. there are thousands of volt going out the plug when functioning corectly and that can damage nerves or even burn some ppl.
