One of the toughest things to talk about is "the sound of REAL music". In the vast majority of cases, people experience music amplified, in some manner, through sound reinforcement equipment of some type. You very often have a mix of electric instruments plugged directly into the sound system amplifiers, you may have acoustical instruments being picked up by one of thousands of types of microphones, and all of this might be mixed with direct sound from, for instance, brass instruments. IT'S AN AUDIO MESS!! I have never been to anything like a very well-balanced musical event that wasn't an orchestra, unamplified, in a very good auditorium designed for orchestral music listening. There ARE no absolute references for a musical event outside of a reproducible orchestral event or perhaps a small ensemble of acoustic instruments in a good sound room with a specific seating location. That is why I almost always prefer music through an excellent quality stereo system like my sound room and playing very well engineered studio recordings.
@frederf699 күн бұрын
Went to Ronnie Scott's in london last year for a jazz gig & heard it through the ATC speakers at the club. I couldn't hear the instruments acoustically. So I heard an electronic version not an acoustic one which is different. I have been playing drums & keyboards for over 40 years.

Last man standing… Eric… Endless offerings from speaker manufacturers giving us promises of a narrow fully dampened tower speaker. A speaker that will PUNCH ABOVE. A narrow deep design with “discrete” yet powerful, revealing, absorbing, enveloping, Bass response. Then comes in the good Ol’ wife factor equation. Eric. You build big speakers. For a reason. Just buy a set of his speakers. It’s really very simple. The A10’s vs the Klipsch, vs the CSS audio. Just get a set.

Interesting new products! Open baffle seems to be getting some renewed attention in the market place. I guess one has to think always about what they are truly looking for. Often times consumers are baffled by the complete difference in so many offerings. I’ve sort of come to know you Eric at Tekton as a manufacturer of larger displacement cabinets. The open baffle design would seem to be something you should very much excel at.

TEKTON <-------------- I was going to buy some speakers from you, you've been on my radar for probably a decade, then the lawsuit drama happened and I was kinda turned off by that and I had not thought about Tekton in about 8 months... HOWEVER, tonight I was researching speakers of all brands again, and HERE I AM...... AGAIN.... For the price points that you offer I just don't see anything out there with your same innovation that is even within my budget. People that trash Tekton praise speakers that cost $25,000 and up a pair or even each! That is NOT my budget. All these nay-sayers of Tekton, I challnge them to show me speakers that match or best Tektons for the same amount of money.... I have not seen anything because there isn't anything. Show me speakers that are open dipole/baffless with this size of drivers and this number of drivers for same or less price from another brand, I challenge anyone! And I am sick of all the comments that trash how Tektons look! I loike the colors and the huge size and huge number of speakers, I have 0 interest in speakers that look like WOOD, or some kinf of fancy wood from the interior of a Jaguar, I like speakers that look modern for the late 19802 early 1990s that look "bad ass". I like a speaker that looks like it can put out some serious sound. I do not see any other speaker on the market that is anything like Tektons. I've never heard or seen these in person, but what I heard on youtube demos sounded as good to me as demos of Wilson or any other brand, granted I am only listening through headphone but still... I hope to be an owner of Tektons as soon as I can afford a pair. And haters should pay attention to what I just said there too, if coming up with $4,000 to $15,000 for a pair of Tektons is a difficult challenge for me then yeah don't even talk to me about Wilsons that cost $150,000 a pair.... the house I live in was LESS than $100,000 and it only was bought 2 years ago for that price too! Here in a small Ohio town. So people, let that put things in perspective! Perhaps $400,000 is the "average" price of a house in the US, BUT, there's a TON of people like me that still buy houses under 100K in small rust belt towns of the US where there is low crime, but poor economy, no jobs, no amentities, nothing to do, and undesirable weather/winters etc. Why is the price of a house important? It's important to put into perspective that people that bash Tekton are reccomending other speakers that cost 1/4 to 100% or even more of what a house costs in some cases! And that is ridiculous! Show me other speakers with this amount of drivers and these sized drivers and this design for same or less$ that sounds better..... I will be waiting!

You would not have won any lawsuit. There were no mistakes, oversights, or inaccuracies in Erin Hardison's review of your unsatisfactory loudspeaker. It was a competent, fair, and well reasoned review. Please stop lying. By making such false accusations, you are defaming others and rendering yourself liable. It appears to me that a lower grade amateur manufacturer is shilling and is the actual novice. How very sad for audio / hi-fi. Nothing undermines trust and faith in the audio community more than behaviour like Eric's.

I have a pair of your polycell 15s and love them. They are my tv speakers. They were fantastic when broken in and they are still great a year later. What I like about your videos is that you are honest about what the speakers can and can't do. I have found that is not the case with most audio reviewers they are just product salesmen. You are correct about the open baffle speakers. I have Spatial Audio Lab X-5 speakers and the sweet spot is about a love seat wide. Their X-4's baffles (both the wood and metal frame are thinner and has no bracing. This cause the baffles to vibrate and make an awful sound. Could you please describe or indicate how thick your open baffle is and how is braced against vibrating. Can Cantate Domino Oh Holy Night be played with these speakers?

We think it's perfectly fine for amateur reviewers, novices, and competitors' shills to spread misinformation. What could possibly go wrong? Seriously, we believe it's unacceptable for amateur reviewers, novices, or those with conflicts of interest to publish false data and narratives about products. There are consequences to spreading misinformation, defamation, libel, and slander. Audiophiles have long understood the advantages of installing feet in loudspeaker cabinets. They protect the bottom from scratches and can be adjusted to perfectly level the speaker, improving imaging by ensuring speakers are parallel to each other and the listener. Our threaded inserts add integrity and versatility due to their open-ended design. It's unfortunate that a reviewer overlooked the importance of using feet and published inaccurate measurements.

All the naysayers haven't heard the Tektons in an optimized system. Yes, just like any other high quality speaker out there, you build the system around them if you like what they do. One size never fits all. I did that with my Moabs (with the Beryllium tweeter), and there is nothing I'd want to replace them with. I am powering them with an 18wpc PSET from Aric Audio. Pure magic! BTW, I went to Axpona a few years ago, and if I didn't know what the Tektons were capable of already, I would have thought they were subpar. It was a very average, unimpressive demo. You need to hear them where they are set up correctly.

@@TektonDesign I mean, to be fair, he did remeasure them with the feet.... The directivity, dynamics, and overall spinorama didn't change. The were excessively minor impedence changes with the feet in So, if you're going to be sour and insult someone after publishing measurements taken properly using a Klippell.... I mean.... you're just arguing against physics at this point. It's clear that you don't have proper anechoic measurements taken when your speakers are produced. He reaches out to each company after posting his findings and those that take the time to reply to him are happy with them. You're the only person so far who's had issue. We're talking Kef, JBL, Perlisten, Danley Sound Labs, Dutch & Dutch, etc... I would argue that if you're a better designer than those who work at those companies, you'd probably be better off working at one of those companies. I do appreciate a company that adds their feet as inserts. That adds a lot of versatility. Erin's subjective review was a positive review overall. Lastly, the comment was a joke, man.
