Thanks for the info...interestingly enough, our feed store charges a few bucks less for the alfalfa than the grass.

I usually shove hose up in the mouth and turn it on. The horse usually throws head up so water goes down the throat you take the hose out try leave it as long as you can the horse will put head down and usually whatever comes out is the blockage

Just a technical suggestion on your videos. That large enclosed space is creating a lot of echo which makes it hard for people to understand what you are saying. Normal in that situation. If you have the ability to use a remote mic for the audio input the mic will pick up much more of your voice and will make the words more clear. Yes, you will still have the echo but not at a level that is as close to your actual voice,

My gelding suffered choke a 2nd time recently, the first time the previous owner had the vet come over. $480 later. So, as I'm not able to afford such an exorbitant amount of money, I resorted to massaging his gullet pouch, and tapping either side of his neck to encourage the throat to relax, after which he swallowed and soon came right. I'd used this technique successfuly on my older horse. You do have to know a little about your horses anatomy to know where to massage.

Its not exorbitant if you cant afford that for an emergency dont own a horse because there are way more expensive emergencies. Anyway oesophagus obstruction resolves alone in most of cases within 30 min, helped if you massage and make the horse walk. But if it doesnt resolves with that, a vet is needed to remove the blockage
