well, in the straight double kick power chord section (before the fast outro), the pedals sounded more defined/tighter on the power chord changes. That hi chord just poked through better. Who's to say if it's just a matter of eq difference, but it WAS better sounding. The pedals just sound less "nasal", especially on the "Dimed" setting.
@frankb57284 ай бұрын
They all sounded very good and it's hard to deny a cheap virtual pedal for the price but they don't have as much girth as the "real" pedal.
@NickLeonard5 ай бұрын
The SF300 is a clone of the FZ-2, not the FZ-5 you showed. The FZ-2 is the one Electric Wizard helped make famous, and prices are around $250-400 used. I have a FZ-5 and it's a pretty good digital modeling fuzz, but nothing too amazing. I like the HM300 best, though the FX56 mode on the HP is a cool different tone. That's based on the DOD FX56 American Metal.

Great comparison method to just *listen* first, then decide. This video helped me realize that I have owned Hellbeast for a long time and never bothered to try it out. It and the Britone really sounded good to me while in the blind test, and then finding out the actual amps was a cool moment. I liked most of them in the mix overall, but Hellbeast and Britone are going to be my new go-to amps for the foreseeable future. Thanks for your work!

First of all - both videos are great and I personally enjoyed them. In this one both Peaveys sounded more scooped than the rest which made me like them the most, nice and chunky. Regarding the last video - don't be surprised that people clicking on a "blind amp shootout" video are complaining about being unable to, well, shoot out the amps. People expect blind shootouts to be scientific, because the whole purpose of the "blind" aspect is to let you hear the subtle differences without being visually biased. So if you call a video "blind AMP shootout" and you're technically shooting out completely different setups using different riffs people point that out because you didn't meet their expectation and they feel mislead (purposefully or not). Overall I really like the videos, I just personally think that blind shootout specifically is not the right formula for them. Not hating, not crying, just expressing my opinion. Do with that what you will mate

so you picked a photo of two bald scientists and then bring up John Browne and me? 😂 my favorite here was C, followed by A a lot of that comes down to how they're dialed in and what cabs interestingly, a lot of them I didn't really like solo'd, but in the mix they all sound good

The Crown, Sigma, and AHM all really stood out to me. The Dominator was kinda interesting compared to the RVXX and the Bulldozer, but for the most part overall amps A, B, and C were all interchangeable and very similar; extremely generic, blah and mid sounding. Those D, E, and F amps were the *chef's kiss* FWIW, I know those are three amps I like the sound of, IRL, so the fact the sims of these amps were appealing to me isn't a surprise. Tube and transistor/red LED solid state amps all sound like variations on a theme, depending on the tone stack, so anyone who thinks they can tell apart anything but truly ICONIC amps, remind me to avoid what you've been smoking. Like, Orange Rockerverbs, 1960/JTM45 Plexi, JCM800, MKII/III, Triple Crown, Badlander, Dual Rectifier, SLO, you likely can tell these by ear. Anything else, and I call BS, especially since boost/OD choices and settings can muddy those waters real quick. EVH 5150 III, the 5150 Iconic, and the whole Peavey 5150/6505/Invective/XXX/JSX line all sound VERY similar, even if they all sound amazing, especially the 6534+, 5150 III EL34, 5150 Iconic, and The Invective (the clean channel on that amp - UNF), as they sound slightly different than the rest of the James Brown designed "inspired by the SLO" amps line and their derivatives.

You want to look at the buffer size in your DAW and whether or not you are using any plugins in the session that use too much CPU. Try lowering your buffer size to 128 (some people go as low as 64).

Shame you didn't use the same IR for each one, also would be good to hear the same riff being played for each amp. It's a bit difficult to judge the amps themselves with so many variables. That being said Crown and Rvxx sounded huge, as expected. They are my favs together with Sigma but you could have dialed it in a bit better imo - for me the secret is to turn down the focus knob to about 2-3. I'm hoping for a follow up video, you have my sub mate!
