Some very solid multiplayer games on SNES. But I hate that people pick Super Street Fighter II out of all the Street Fighter games on the system, especially given it has easily the worst sound and the most censorship. I'd pick the original Street Fighter II and Turbo above it any day.

With the video title, are you asking if the TurboGrafx-16 is the best system of that era for platformers? Because the answer would be no imo. I'd say the SNES is definitely the king when it comes to platformers, certainly the more traditional mascot type. And if more action games and run 'n' gun are also considered under the platformer moniker, I think the Genesis would be up there too and possibly ahead for some people. Although it looks like the TurboGrafx-16 has a solid lineup of platformers of its own.

inceptional- objectively you're correct. IMHO, these videos represent the vibe of their time, competition, legacy and their curatorial value. It's a food for thought when tackling technically which was the best and what felt like the best for the time and the hype. The comparisons are fun and enthralling.

Keith Courage was awesome for it's time. PC Engine was golden Era Japanese charm and spectacle in video games and culture. The PC Engine Sound Chip was on display with that game. The sound was so much beefier and more layered than the also impressive NES sound chip. It was a hell of an experience to boot this up and feel the power and awe of the new level of presentation. The cultural impact was thoroughly experienced.

This is a great list! I am always interested in seeing different opinions and experiences of favorite games! Some of my favorites that you didn't mention.... R.C. Pro Am, Guardian Legend, Dragon Warrior, Golgo 13, Kung Fu, Ice Climber, Rygar, Legendary Wings, Baseball Simulator 1.000 and Ghosts and Goblins. Loved your video. First time viewer. I think I'll have to pick up a copy of Alien 3 because that version looks better than the SNES one I had. Your video makes me want to complete my SMS collection. I've never owned a SMS, I just found about a dozen or so cartridges for $0.99 about 20 years ago and I've since been trying to find cases and manuals for them all. I'm close and just need 2 more authentic cases. Your description mentions old Master System and New Master System. I thought there was just "The Master System". So some constructive criticism. There are many of us who hate videos being interrupted with the obnoxious "Like and subscribe", ESPECIALLY multiple times in a video less than 20 minutes. I usually unsubscribe, and there are many of us who feel the same way. Your videos are fine and stand on their own without that intrusive, noisy addition. It's the bad content creators that need to remind people to like and subscribe. Don't bastardize decent videos with insecure bullshit that irritates the viewer. I'd also try and make the audio at a consistent level. The change in sound volume changes right where the Fantasy Zone portion is shown.

N64, Saturn, and PS1 were all better in their own ways and unique games and genres. None topped Super Mario 64 and many of the 1st party Nintendo games, and RARE came through strong for the N64.

As much as I loved Gate of Thunder and Air Zonk, the two best shmups on the Turbo Duo never left Japan. Those would be Gradius 2: Gofer no Yabou, and R-Type Complete CD

Yes, PC Engine was more successful in Japan than in the West. There is an anime (Hiscore girl) where the protagonist that lives in Japan owns a PC Engine (neither Sega nor Nintendo console)
