It seemed to take forever to get this oil pan, but now no more excuses. Time to get this engine completed!

That is good advice. It's all buttoned up now, but I should have taped it up. I did at least cover the engine when I wasn't working on it

Nice looking car.... I like the dark red. I have a '65 sitting in my garage as well, and it has been one step forward and three steps back. Do your self a favor if you have not done it already pull your steering gear box out and rebuild it that is to replace all the seals inside that have hardened. Mine leaked like a sieve. Now I have the steering column out and rebuilt and will go in this weekend I hope.....God bless. and great video!

I did do the gear box a few months ago. I haven't had it running since to test it though. Good luck, god bless and thanks a ton!

I will admit, this project was a little intimidating. In the end, being big, dirty and awkward to handle was the worst part. Next time I will buy or build some sort of stand to hold it for sure. All in all it was a pretty fun project, and I won't be hesitant on the next build.

Sweet! braver man than I am. Your vacuum canister is bad, they installed a plastic one that collapsed. My car has two, as lucky me, I have the vacuum door locks.... oh joy. So I don't know where you live but there are several T bird specialty shops around. The Birds Nest is in Portland Oregon, the Thunderbird HQ is another one i think that is in Texas. What all do you plan to do to yours? God Bess.
@buckdontknow7 ай бұрын
Yep I got one now, form Bird's Nest, they are great. It's not installed yet, wiring and vacuum lines are in the near future though. Can't wait!

I haven't used the Thunderbird HQ. I'll check them out. Bird's Nest and Larry's Thunderbird so far for most of my parts
@mikejohansson67117 ай бұрын
Wow, I'm the first poster... your car looks almost exactly like mine.... dash out, front floor boards out. I had to replace my vacuum hoses. While you have that booster out.... pull the steering gear box our and get a rebuild kit from the Birds Nest, as these leak like a sieve after 59 years. With the engine in the gear box is next to impossible to get out. I also have two wires that are mystery wires that are fried on one end I have to track down. Fun. My shift lever was excellent condition just like yours. I wish you the best! nice color car as well. God bless.
@buckdontknow7 ай бұрын
haha shit, you are adding to my list! I have looked at it several times and wanted to get it out just to clean it. I guess I will do that. No time better than now. I actually installed my suspension and booster/master cylinder, but haven't bled the brakes, so it is easy to disassemble. I saw a video on Exit 45 channel, I was wondering if I needed to tackle the steering gear box. But that makes sense. Guess i will. Thanks for the heads up

I heard putting on salt doesn’t fuck with the cooking it just makes the crawfish suffer while they are getting cleaned. This University did a test that shows salt doesn’t help with the cleaning process it does nothing.

Your old tank had a vent tube made into it!! And your new tank did not isn’t that going to cause issues with filling the tank and drivability issues?
@buckdontknow8 ай бұрын
you know I'm not sure. I will find out though. Thanks for the heads up on that. Still have some time before I actually fuel it up.
@buckdontknow8 ай бұрын
I checked it, it does have a small vent tube right in the middle on the top, but it doesn't run to the side like the old one. I could easily add some tube to run it down some more, but I'm not sure if that is necessary. I have seen some info on if your car flips, all the gas would just drain out the way it is in its current state. Not likely to happen in this low riding tank, but possible.

@james107399 ай бұрын
Vinegar is cheap but mariatic acid is a way better solution to me for 4 or 5 gallons you can dilute 1 gallon to make the 5 and it would still be way faster but you don't want to keep any of the acids inside your shop because everything will rust
