I can certainly relate to this podcast and find the reactions you outline extremely challenging, however working on protecting myself and try not to be around certain people who have a pattern of behaving in the way you have described.

Well what if its nothing like that?? Let me give you a personal example and this one is one that has been breaking me slowly over the years because I don''t understand it even if i use this philosophy which I do in everything but with this person is impossible to do so. Im talking about my brother in law. The man is disrepectful and in every chance he gets he makes me feel like a door mat saying hurtful things and implying things that are wrong the way i have come to see it is sickening at this point i lodt all respect for the msn i no longer want to be in the same room with him. and it hurts because. I was brought up in a house where everyone respect themselves. Where the inlaws were seen as siblings. But with this person is impossible everyone says of he is just joking but the thing is those are not jokes. and it has come to a point where i no longer even say hi to the man trying to avoid every conversation but he shows up as the victim in others eyes to there point that my sister said she doesn't want people like me around her kids because i don't talk to her husband and this was one of the most painful thingsNot because of him . but because i have held my feelings for years i never spoke back nor disrespected anyone not to hurt them but my feelings have been ignore by everyone so now i try to put my feelings first and I'm the bitch that no one wants around because I'm no longer taking this man disrespectful actions.I try the Estoy approach and even my personal philosophy in life bur its impossible. To say he envies me is something that can't be placed in the book because I have nothing for anyone to envy me. I no longer know what to do so if you can help me enlighten me on this situation i would aoreciate it.

That’s a tough one, you are smart not to become defensive or join him in his belittling game playing and disrespect. Try using the neutral reaction I’d f you are in a situation where he’s doing something sarcastic and disrespectful like if he says something mean a tries to act like he’s just joking around like, “That’s interesting that you would say that” and then just stay silent. He wants a reaction, don’t give his twisted mind the satisfaction.

@@djquinn11 i have tried for more than 12 years and its the haredst thing i have ever had to do in life. Im just staying in people call me antisocial but its literally a defensive way to protect myself since everyone takes his side. To be honest the can take his side all they want i just want the guy to pretend I'm not there so that i can be able to show my face without feeling embarrassed every time. But what hurts most is that the people i love see this and don't care how i feel. to what i decided to not care anymore

Is it a sign of moral weakness for someone to use others without caring for them, or simply the result of a pragmatic mindset in modern society? From a Stoic perspective, how can we maintain our composure and remain steadfast in our inner values when faced with people who see us as mere tools?

This video popped up in my recommendations, and as someone who’s watched countless self-improvement videos, I found this one refreshingly different. You’re doing something really cool here. I also produce content on another channel, so I know how hard it can be to gain recognition despite creating original content like this. I think smaller channels like us should support each other. My latest video, “What if Marcus Aurelius was Stuck in the Modern Day Rat Race?”, has a similar take on self-improvement. I’d love your feedback. I’ve liked and subscribed to your channel and can’t wait to see more! :)
