Do the Hopi people invite other tribes to attend these social dances? I don't see the Hopi attending pow wows?

the buffalo dances happen in january
@treykoyawena4443Ай бұрын
Usually in January and this is the old style of the Big Buffalo dance where it’s the old New Mexico Pueblo style which we borrowed this from and other pueblos like Zuni and others have similarities with their culture too.

I've associated clowns (Hanno) with the Katsina but here they are in front of cameras. ???
@PurpleRYTАй бұрын
It’s a social dance and every dance has a clown like katsina clowns bring healing and prayers but these ones are different they’re butterfly clowns each dance has a different clown.
@MrKmoconneАй бұрын
@@PurpleRYT Is there a way to be invited to be a witness to the Katsina dances? I take them very seriously but I have no path to be a witness to those ceremonies.
@MrKmoconneАй бұрын
@@PurpleRYT In English, clown implies humor. I have read that Hopi clowns do use humor in ceremonies. These clowns seem more in harmony with the dance.

I'm a white man in my 60s and live down here in Silver City, NM far from Hopiland, but I've been fascinated with Hopi culture since my late teens. I marvel at the elaborate costumes in the dances, all the work that goes into the costumes, all the work in rehearsing & choreographing the dances. The dances are a wonderful part of rich Hopi culture. I'm grateful & thankful the Hopi do the dances & share them now in videos. God bless the Hopi!

They are not costumes and maybe go to one of the pueblos in new Mexico we have dances like the hopi's
@MrKmoconne15 күн бұрын
@@PurpleRYT They are not costumes, which is what actors wear in a play, Ceremonial dress is probably the best words in English . Outsiders are trying to do their best. Help them out.
