Beautiful, Glen. I find myself moved to tears. As one musician who has sung her song with Holly Near a number of times, you've raised up its power right here. "We Are A Gentle Angry People," otherwise known as "Singing For Our Lives" is a prophetic song (how about other verses - "We are black and white together...") and simple enough to be taught by ear. I guess you know the history of it, Holly wrote it and sang it after the murder of Supervisor Harvey Milk and Mayor George Moscone. (Harvey Milk was the first openly gay politician in California). That the UU Church would put this kind of song in the hymnbook speaks volumes to who we are and what we see as our work in the world. In peace,
