Top monster player. The guitars are just tools. Very good tools but they won’t turn you into a great player.

Glad to run into this video Ted. I used to come listen to your set at that little brunch place next to the Afterthought in Little Rock when I was a wee kid. I recall you advising me to dive into 7-string playing ("what do you have to lose?") and now 20 years later here I am fumbling my way through Pannonica on my 7 out here in LA. Good to hear your sounds again.

Love this guitar. Remarkable, particularly the balanced sound of the 7th string. Thanks for sharing this.

Thanks a lot for this review. Seems an excellent guitar. I'm searching since a long time for a decent 7 string with a 24.8 inch scale length (7th string only tuned to D, so feasible) and a sufficiently wide neck to allow fingerpicking. Unfortunately, Tom lives in the US. I suppose he has no dealers in Europe. Importing it myself is costly and risky. Do you know a good luthier in Europe that does similar work?

Let me ask Tom. The pickup was made by a custom maker that I had not previously been familiar with. I’ll find out and let you know. Tyler Wells and Tom have both been impressed with this pickup and urged me to try it. It sounds really good

What kind of pick up is on the guitar? Is it a set in pickup or a floating pickup?

Hi Ted, great video. When you started learning different songs like Miles Davis, did you learn them from sheet music, or by ear? And is that the best way to work out the harmony of a song, working it out by ear?
