……Oh and that “crime together we’ll crack it” ad was nothing but a massive joke when we were at school! And it still go’s on today, and the police do bugger all about unless there’s a fine involved!!!!

The lady who complained about the aids adverts does have a point about the ad aimed at women, I have seen this many times and it never crossed my mind that the camera was focusing too much on the legs and the provocativeness of her, but she still seems in control, so maybe the complainer this case is a bit of a stiff who gets triggered by everything in life?!

This was Prisoner episode 94 which was the last episode that Central would screen after another region had already seen it (Yorkshire 23.00 Mon 23/11/1987). From the next episode, 95 on Sun 29 Nov all the way through to the end (692 in Dec 1991), Central would be the first to see all episodes and would expand their gap between other regions increasingly as they progressed with the series.

Interesting report on After Dark. 'Spider' Wilson reportedly did find treatment, got housed and found a job. John Heddle, the Conservative MP in the clip, didn't have such a happy future.

20:20 That 2nd Test Match at Perth did finish as a draw. But England won the five-match series 2-1 to retain the Ashes down under. The 1986/87 Ashes series was one of the greatest for England in my time. Not bad for a team who were initially criticised as couldn’t bat, couldn’t bowl or couldn’t even field 😂

Not sure what's worse on the Warrington-Runcorn advert. The fake version of 'Vienna', or no Eileen Bilton.

With most of this exceptional cast now gone, there are still some of us who remember this unforgettable show. From Brucie on roller skates to JR drying in front of the whole nation were truly memorable, but for me it has to be the orchestra and the amazing Peggy Lee, Victor Borge and the legend that was Sammy Davis Jnr. Such class acts made this a wonderful escape from a troubled 21st century. Singing along with Danny Kaye made me smile so much. Bless all these entertainers, as we shall never see the like again. x

I’ve shared this video with my son in Canada ,don’t suppose there will be many faces he knows as he was born in 1971 and probably in bed when it was aired first…I remember it well and the queen mother looked so lovely.

27:04 Paul Squire got his big break here & it led to shows on ITV & BBC1 before he vanished from Television in 1983 - depending on who you believe, he either became disillusioned with TV or had fallen out with both channels. Sadly we'll never know as he passed away in 2019.

1987? Testing for Nicam Digital Stereo. Certain technicians were given a nicam stereo box to encoded it. All different areas from Crystal Palace probably. Over London, southern Essex, north Kent nearer to London and down to just before the border with East and West Sussex. Then they report back the next day to say how good the sound was in Nicam digital stereo. This means that series of Don't Wait Up was recorded in stereo. The next time this series is repeated listen to see if it's in stereo. If it is, there's your answer. Nobody could pick it up apart from these BBC technician guys. Nicam equipment I don't think was on the market yet. Ordinary Hi-Fi Stereo TVs and VCRs were but they weren't capable of picking up Nicam.
