Thanks for the video, I made a jig just like yours for 3 inch spacing and got screws started in all my balusters. Worked perfectly! Saved me tons of aggravation!

Same process as seen in video, but if your pieces won’t bend you will most likely have to shave off the entire lip with the chisel, like on the video but all the way across

Sometimes you can but most rooms will have more than one door, like a closet.

Can you do whole flat in one continuous stretch of laminate flooring? Doing it across many doorways, some will be perpendicular to the other

What license would you need to build this yourself?
@how-toswithaaron16
@how-toswithaaron16 Ай бұрын
Just to screen in like in the video no license. To build the roof structure above it sometimes can require a contractors license, but if it’s your own house you can still do it, even permitted, yourself. But that’s just my experience and in NC so worth looking into yourself as well

this is genius, last year we had to get it done quickly on our old porch, i just stapled screen to the wood and survived the winter wind by re stapling jt as they blew off every now and then- this year i am doing section of my porch at a time to redo it, pulling the staples, staining, and screening this way. i'm so excited because of this video! thank you!

Someone else may have commented this already. I have made the mistake of not fully undercutting the jamb. I just undercut the door trim and the notch. You clearly cut the entire jamb casing. That's helpful as well and an important first step before even trying to cut it in. I've said more curse words doing this than just about anything. Very helpful.

Aaron, I built a porch and couldn’t find a way to screen it properly. This seems like the fix. May I ask, what lumber pieces do you have? It looks like 2x2 pine. Is it treated? Also, the other Issue I ran into is screening materials. I only found screens 3 feet wide and my windows are about the size you have. What size lumber and screen did you get and where did you find it? Thank you, Aaron

Honestly this is better and easier than those screen systems you buy (the vinyl and aluminum ones). Speaking from experience. I have the aluminum Screen Tight system, and installing screen is a pain. My screen needs replacing so tearing the track out and just covering stapled screen with 1x material. This is a cleaner look and you don’t have to mess around with cutting and installing the track and the screen with spline. Cheaper too. Also, buying a power or air stapler makes things 10x easier.

You save me at least 30 minutes of cussing and fussing. I didn’t have a chisel handy but my paint scraper did a nice job. I have always been able to just beat them in place but the laminate I am installing today is made out of salt dust and glue lol. Liked and subscribed

Thanks for this video! I stay in a mobile home park in Louisiana. I’m allergic to mosquitoes! I end up in the doctors office every summer because of mosquito bites. I’m determined to NOT be inside during the summer this year 😂. I’ve got my mosquito machine and solar ceiling fan ready but I needed to screen the porch for more comfort. I bought tinted screen for privacy.
