I was thinking that if your budget is very tight, you might also consider paying the debts with the higher minimum payments first. I know you are supposed to rollover the minimum payments of paid off debts to your next debt. But if your budget is super-tight, there can be a lot of reduced stress and anxiety if you have some extra wiggle room.

My guess is that you can come up with savings within your daily, monthly, and seasonal expenditures. Congrats on doing some/ all of your own yard work for example. Picking quickly on groceries: Spend a week looking at your waste stream (garbage and recycling) and through your cupboards to discover and reflect on what food stuffs you are using and also buying. How much of it is prepared and partially prepared foods, how much of it is coming as an assortment of pre-mixed items in a box or package, and how much of it is more than budget food? When was the last time you had a shredded carrot salad made from carrots you shredded yoir self on a box grater? Do you take lunches to work? Do look at some of the frugal living and from scratch cooking channels using lesser costing ingredients; save the lobster for special treats even if it is home cooked. This may mean you need to invest in some food storage containers so you can pack lunches or portion yiir own apple sauce. It may mean that you need to invest in a Stanley, or equivalent quality, thermos so you can pack your own coffee complete with "fixings" (rinse upon coming home and wash daily if it includes milk products and/ or sugar); save Starbucks as a treat and when you can sit down to honestly enjoy it as opposed to being a daily routine. If you need "investment purchases" go slow so you cannreap the cost savings before making an additional purchase; thisnalso makes for mindful purchasing. Do go out and watch some of the assorted de-cluttering, organizing, minimalist, zero waste, amd frugal living videos then start to organize shelf by shelf, drawer by drawer, closet and cupboard by....I like to invest in re-sealable baggies of different sizes and free cardboard boxes of all sizes from the store rather than buy the assorted "storage solutions"; all,the niremso when starting out and/ or its been a while. Personally, I'm not a big advocate of donating or tossing the things I own. Rather, I am an advocate of using, using up, and being able to find what I own. There should still be some capsule wardrobe videos out there. Im not a big proponent of living in gray or tan with only a single splash of other wise neutral color across 9 or 12 outfits. But these folks have a lot to say about pairing clothes into outfits. Spend an afternoon tossing combinations of what you own on the bed to discover how many outfits you can make, discover trends and bountifulness (ie 8 zillion tee shirts and not much else for tops), and holes such as a particular color of topper which would then create multiple combinations. Allow this exercise to lead you to more purposeful clothing shopping and consider less costly accessories to expand the looks or update what you own. I could go on but, yiunget the idea.

For Wayfair, you owe a rough $1000 and have a rough 5 months, July through November inclusive. Consider making minimum, $250 payments beginning this month of July.

We use our credit card more so than ever before. For the most part, we dont use the card unless we ALREADY have the funds to cover our transactions. Then we pay it off upto multiple times per month. Because we pay the card off in person at the credit union under the auspices of CCTV, there are times we have some dangling charges from the previous month plus bills weve "paid" for the upcoming month which we pay off all at once after the new pay has been received. Each time we pay off the card, we ask abiut the pending charges then pay both the posted and the pending transactions.

First, add no more debt. Second, get caught up. Third, pay on time. Fourth, pay down debt. Please, please, please put an emphasis on those 0% interest, bubble payment loans. It is part of the first step of add no more debt.

On Apple and Target, see if the budget can handle $10 or even $5 extra dollars per month. If you're dropping the principle by $100 in 6 months, you are effectively paying down the principle by $16.66/ month with the minimum payments. Even an additional $5 per month is significant.

Thanks! I actually took your advice and start paying extra each week onto Apple in addition to the minimum monthly payment and I see a difference.

@@TheRavynsNest1 This type of thing looks good on a credit report too. Even if the amounts are up and down, they like consistent, regular payments. They like reducing that debt to equity ratio, But they ALSO like it when people pay off debt so they can turn around and charge or borrow more. Take care on this last point.

You have certainly gotten hit with a LOT of expensive, unplanned expenditures these past 6 months! Abiut that escrow underage at the end of the year when it's reassessed - If insurrance, property values, and the like are continuing to go up in yoir area itnis my advice to simply plan on an annual escrow shortage. It pays to pay the difference rather than have them tack it on to the cost (principle) of the mortgage.

When i purchased my home in the 1980's for $55k, I soon had credit card offers for $150k. Even with my vehicle paid off, I was feeling the discretionary spending difference by the time I paid the mortgage, electric, water, garbage, etc... I borrowed a lawn mower, networked and furnished in other's cast off and limited thrift store finds, bought a yard or other tool at one per month, etc... ; oh, and of course clearance "posies" or plants for the yard. Even going between frugal, conservative, and cheap I wasnt going out after work nearly like I had been and I couldn't imagine credit card payments for $150k when paying a mortgage for $55k.

There's a difference between ambitious and realistic. Realistically how much would the cost to pay off your debt goals by the end of the year and divide by six. Once you know that monthly figure, you will automatically if you will be able to reach that goal. You won't need to wait until the end of the year and wonder if you have set realistic goals, and be disappointed when you don't reach your goal.

Escrow shortages are not embarrassing. I’m learning how to manage mine along with the bank (I can’t take ownership of mine because I have an FHA loan). I proactively review the insurance renewal and taxes to ensure I don’t have those wild swings in payments.

Glad to see you back. You are learning like most new homeowners, just because you are eligible and got big credit cards offers, don't do it girl. My husband and I, learned the hard way which seemed like everything was due at the same time. Then the regular maintenance needed to be done. Thank GOD for sinking funds. Our house is paid for now we can take our time to get things we may need without credit cards....

This sounds like me when I got a house. The vaults were open! The problem I had was closing the vault door. I spent SOOO much money and most of it was on nonsense. I thought I had my budget automated and I could stop holding the steering wheel. I quickly ran into a ditch and stayed there for years. I started getting my act together in January 2022. I’ve paid off $25K so far - I have another $27K to go. 🫤

The $1755 savings challenge will meet your $1765, 0% interest October '23 balloon payment term loan if it can be completed early (1765 - ($31/mon min ×9 months) at $1486 by the October payment time. The savings challenge idea works for the 0% interest loans because you're not losing money to the bank in interest charges each month. Every day that money sits in an envelope over paying down balances on interest bearing accounts costs you money. Most short term loans, which a credit card balance is, have thier annual interest figured at some ratio of daily balance on the account. Every day you can reduce a balance saves you money in interest charges.

First add no more debt. Second get caught up. Third pay your bills on time. Fourth pay down debt balances. Do consider putting aside your cards, leave them at home, remove them from the areas you have on-line access to. The Kohl's card seems doable to wipe out. I would then concentrate on the about $1800 worth of Wayfair debt to avoid adding debt come October '23. Feb-October is about 8 months and translates into @$225/ month (1800/8) minimum payments to get it paid off in time. I don't think you can completely "save" the Wells Fargo 0% interest term loan without a significant infusion of income or a change in debt structure. If you can manage to get Kohl's paid off and the $225/ month for the October balloon payment I would begin to make extra principle-only payments on what is now the @$800 card and down the snowball line of other cards. Yes, a roommate, second job, and pared down expenses are all things you can do for more debt balance cash flow. You are now a homeowner on a less than ample income which is further impaired by debt balance payoff responsibilities. It is now time to pick up your diy skills beyond assembling furniture that comes in a box. Speaking of boxes, you will have many more of your wants satisfied and a higher life style if you think out of the box - and diy. It is time for utube University, to join your local gifting sites/ groups like Buy Nothing, and to begin to expand your assorted diy skills; ideally using tools and materials you can scrounge or pick up for free. Diy items in and about the home but also as gifts to reduce your expenditures.

I already started the savings challenge from 2022 you did. I love it. I am at the same place with a lot of debt and I have no savings. How will you use the savings challenges to fill your sinking funds? Do you fill them with the set amount when you have that in your savings? Because I never figured out how you do the envelope system with sinking funds when there’s no money in them, I never can get started because I’m always having to borrow from other places.

Hi! And thank you so much for the support! I'll definitely go more into detail with this in my sinking funds setup video. But essentially, I have set sinking funds and open sinking funds. My set sinking funds get a certain added to them each time I get paid, have a goal amount and most of them have deadlines for when they need to be finished. Open sinking funds don't get a set amount each payday. They are basically pots of money with an intended purpose, no set goal amount, and no strict deadlines. My plan is to use the money I save through the challenges to (1) pay extra towards debt and (2) add money to these open sinking funds. Hope this helps!
