Great video. Might be worth doing another one on reviewing best pension options...

Great content, although did you forget to say that if you are a higher rate taxpayer, you can also claim the remaining tax allowance on the 20k through a self-assessment?

1. Have opened one ISA account in HSBC ( LOY_ISA_Adv) ( In OCT 2023) and deposited 20000.00 GBP and withdraw 5000.00 GBP in March 2024 ? 2. I opened one more Cash ISA in NatWest in March 2023 and deposited 20000.00 GBP 3. Have opened one more ISA account and deposited 20000.00 GBP and withdraw all amount in one day in Halifax . Here my question is can i have any tax issues or penalties from HMRC as i have two ISA accounts with 20000.00 GBP amount in each account ?

Great advice... I want to do this Flexi drawdown release to one of the pension scheme I didn't even know I had and Aviva let me know about it 3 years ago (I forgot I signed up to one when I was 18) now I'm 54.. so next year I can get take out small lumps especially to pay off some low debts and buy a new spangled TV 😂 then the rest I can carry on leaving in . My work pension is healthy and I won't touch that until 65 and again not in lump sum unless major circumstances change.

yeah...just save £1000 a month....riiiigghht..

Great strategy but you won't see your bonus until 55 yo or later (soon 57, when I retire it will become 60 for sure)

That's what I find a bit confusing about this... Sure saving for your pension is great, but how do you weight that against more immediate saving goals where you need the money more readily?

What if you're 60 and only earn £1,000 a month?

Don't you need to be careful that you don't exceed the annual pension contribution limit of £40,000 ? That could be easy with a salary of around 125k. I'm currently looking into this and options of "carry forward" to allow extra pension contributions to a high salary. However, this will only work for 3 years before you have maxed this out.
@aceman0000099 Жыл бұрын
What are you on about? If you're already spending 40k on your pension, then you're already getting the benefits here and this video is of no relevance to you.
@stuartb3690 Жыл бұрын
@@aceman0000099 😂, wtf has it got to do with you ? . But for those interested in an education and a potential answer that might help someone out ,then it’s probably best left to being answered by someone actually knowledgeable to answer it. It was a simple question about how the dynamic might be effected if the person was paid for instance 150,000. Do you know?

From April 5, 2023 the allowance is £60k.

If i earn 119.472,66 and I am not paying pension with salary sacrifice - I will have to transfer a sum to my pension provider. This sum will be a net sum as i have already paid tax on it. I am struggling though how much that sum exactly should be to be a gross of 19.472,72 to take my income to 100k?
@mrscreamer3792 жыл бұрын
??? I don't understand ... this is like saying "Are you being offered more than £50,270 for a job? Refuse it because you'll be taxed at 40%". This is so silly.
@K233862 жыл бұрын
A suggestion: this is more complex explanation of a rather simple concept. You won’t get audiences unless you simplify. Good luck.

A helpful video. Bengen's rule was based on a retiree withdrawing 4% of the pension pot in the first year of retirement and then adjusting the amount withdrawn in line with inflation in each subsequent year, without the pension pot's value falling below zero (i.e the retiree would not run out of money in a 30 year period). Also if the last year was 1976, then this would be for someone starting retirement in 1976 and so would have taking into account the market performance in the subsequent 30 years.

Super informative video, thanks for producing. It also worth noting that you can usually take up to 25% of the amount built up in any pension as a tax-free lump sum. The tax-free lump sum doesn't affect your Personal Allowance.

Earning ‘80000’ a year , not a very relatable example.
@STUCASHX2 жыл бұрын
True. £80k gross only applies to the top 5% earners in the county by 2020 figures. ( Probably top 6% now with out of control inflation.)

This is very valid advice. I’ve a pot of £700k now with £1400 p/m additions. I’m 52 and plan to retire at 60. Do you think I might have an LTA problem?
@mrmiruk3 жыл бұрын
If your bonus takes you over 100k, you may not know your going over until year end. With this strategy, you would need to commit to increased pension contributions for the 12months up until year end and risk *potentially* realising you didn't have to increase your pension contributions if your bonus ends up being smaller and not hitting 100k?
@aceman0000099 Жыл бұрын
So you potentially "risk" over-investing on your pension by maybe 2 grand in a year if you guessed your bonus would be 12k and it turns out to be 10k. Wow. Big deal. Hardly worth crying over
