@@MrXenon1994 I looked it up and in Tony’s book there’s this: “A few days later, we headed off to Abraham Moss studios in Cheetham Hill to complete our first demo as a five-piece. We recorded 'Colour my Life' and 'Take Me' but it was a shambolic session, as became evident when we slipped the tape into the van's cassette player on the way home. City Life reviewed the demo in their Christmas issue, though the reviewer wrote that he was not too excited by the band. Thanks for that. We each fired the demo around people we knew in the city. Noel told his contacts he was not even on the demo.” I’m confused, do you have other sources?
@MrXenon19942 ай бұрын
@@jiangya-y3e Noel was lying to his contacts. It was the first recording session as a 5-piece like you said, he was definitely there. Noel was in the band and writing by that time, and I'm quite sure he wrote this one. The songs Noel had nothing to do with were Alice, Reminisce and Take Me, which were recorded earlier in 1991 before he joined. Every source I've seen for 8 years claims it's a Noel-penned song, including Genius. I think the fact he played on it is a good indication that he wrote it, especially back then.

This was recorded before Oasis went to Liverpool in 1993 to record their demo tape with The Real People. During that time the lead singer of the Realies basically coached Liam to sing less like Ian Brown and more like him, and helped develop Liam's signature vocal style.

Feel the pain was part of the 20 demos that the realies recorded in 1990. It also appeared live alongside other Marshmallow lane songs like Believer and Somehow fly in the same year. They planned to realise the song in 1992, but I'd guess that it was at least 2 years old by that point.

Its weird , tony and guigs sound better on these earlly recordings , especislly guigs
@officialFredDurstfanclub3 ай бұрын
One of Noel’s later requirements for the band is they had to deliberately play simply, which is why on the band’s first three albums Guigs (or Noel) only plays root notes. Given how this is an early song that never escaped demo hell I’m assuming he had a bit more free reign on what to play or Noel wasn’t as bothered about the complexities of things. Same with Tony’s drumming

This is the way the song was intended to be heard. The Realies were too far ahead of their time and got lumped in with the shite baggy bands of the time. People say that guitar music was dead after the fall of The Stone Roses but The Realies were doing it 90/91 before the likes of Oasis who everyone credits for the resurgence of guitar music in 1994. Once again The Realies dont get they deserve but they're massive to me 🤷♂️.

@MrXenon19948 ай бұрын
I found out about this band from Wikipedia too! Once I found out that someone actually made a song about Genie, I had to find it. Killjoy Confetti released their first album, Into The Light, back in 2002 I think. The band were called Arcade back then. A different band named Arcade threatened to sue them so they changed their name to Killjoy Confetti and released this album in 2006, went on tour and broke up for good, if I recall correctly. I have not managed to get my hands on Into The Light, as much as it kills me to say. I want to hear that CD so fucking bad. But I do have their 2nd album uploaded in full.

A big part of me wishes Liam should release this song as a solo artist. Since he wrote this and other Liam-penned Oasis demos, it'd be nice if Liam returns to his old written songs.
@Oran_Lee_Bass5 ай бұрын
Yeah, him and Bonehead should re-record these songs. Maybe update them a bit. I imagine them sung in Liam's current style and that is the key. Oasis made it because of Liam's new-found confidence and new vocal style. Sure, Noel's songs are brilliant. But it's Liam's vocals that made them stand out and made the band sound far bigger and better as well as unique compared to all the other bands of the time.
