Great video. Thank you for the information. I collected some for tea today. I am very grateful for the things that are provided through the winter So I can still go out and forage. But mostly for when you really need them.

@@Markjacobs4477 I find it's very similar to haddock. It's one of my favorite fish to eat. Just my opinion though.

I'm teaching my 3-year-old about nature and forging and we are enjoying everything we find a great deal. I know about chaga and how to use it and I know about Staghorn sumac and using pine needles, and they all make fantastic tea. But just last night I discovered Polyporus mushroom and I was a little hesitant because I would love to begin to forge mushrooms but I'm terrified of getting poisoned....🤢 so I went out and within less than 5 minutes on our walk because I live in the Northern woods of vermont, I found a birch tree that has recently begun to fall over and it had about 10 or 12 mushrooms on it and I was able to harvest one a little bit bigger than the size of my han...couldnt reach the rest, and I was just going to use them as future fire starters but then I read up that you can make tea and it will help with inflammation which I have severe arthritis so I just made some a few minutes ago and yes the taste is very bitter and I'm taking it really slow in case somehow and some way I have messed up big time at least I won't poison myself too bad, LOL but so far so good I have drinking about half a cup and it's not too bad. I mean it is very bitter and it definitely has a strange taste but I put a little Stevia in it and it helped a great deal. But I just wanted to thank you for the video and I really appreciate the time you took to create this video and help people like me Get Back To Nature....and heal naturally God bless!❤️🙏

Made polypore tea this morning with a tsp honey. Mushroom flavor comes thru. I bring it to near boil. Delish.

Im a bass fishermen and im curious what the colors of those same crayfish are in spring and summer and how much more you yield? I take it that was a super small catch compared to summer but you were still surprised you caught any at all correct? (Doing research for color patterns)

Yes I was definitely surprised to catch any at all in the winter! I had read somewhere that crayfish go into a sort of hybernation in cold climates. We definitely catch much more during the summer months. The color however is the same.

I don't know if you harvest off yellow birch but if you do , do you find the white birch produces sweeter chaga. We don't have a lot of white birch but what I've tried seems sweeter. Good hunting.

We've harvested from both white, and yellow birch. To be honest I haven't noticed a difference, but I guess I'd have to make a batch of each at the same time and take a sip of each one to really know.

I make this tea, adding some dandelion leaves & root, and nettle leaves. I add the goodies to boiling water, turn the heat down and simmer it for a few hours and cool. It makes a nice ice tea. I make about 5 lites and put it in the fridge. Full of nutrients

It has a unique flavor. I thought it was pleasant. Kind of a nutty/mushroom flavor is the best I can describe it.

Thank you for your share here. I made my first tea, and it turned out to be very bitter...maybe I should water it down. I was collecting chanterelles in the woods when ran into a medicine woman, she was collecting popypores. This was my good luck to open up to such medicinal mushrooms and expand my knowledge here. We live in Luxembourg where all forests are open to enter, and they are full of mushrooms of all kinds.

Yes. We only keep a few that we catch and these two we filleted and put in the freezer for future meals.

Lol. Luckily for us we knew that this cows momma had sent her on her way without her... That's what they do. They don't stay together forever. This Cow is a two year old. First year on its own without her mom. It's common for them to act this way when they are on their own for a bit

Oh man I remember driving up my grandfathers driveway every year and looking at all the trees with buckets hanging that he tapped and set up in a system. What a time this just threw me back to.
