This must be the anime my friend told me about years ago. I just knew it involved ancient Greece and super dramatic weird sci fi alchemy stuff, and was by the director of Aeon Flux. Hadn't thought about it in ages, finally found this through Peter Chung's wiki page. But yeah I've wondered if this exists or what it is for years til tonight. Wonder where I might find the whole series, unlike most English dubs this seems compelling in a late 90s animation kind of way.

+Claire AwesomeSauce That's because at that time when it aired on Adult Swim, female nudity wasn't acceptable, and hard to be cut to a TV-14 rating, otherwise the show would've gotten a MA, and they couldn't show MA programs at that time. I am sure now, they can show butts, but not boobs though...

Well luckily, SHOWTIME Beyond got the rights to Reign: The Conqueror, and kept everything intact and was rated TV-MA, since that SHO Beyond is a premium cable channel.

I love Reign:The Conqueror! Alexander Senki,known in English as Reign:The Conqueror is a Japanese anime first released in 1999. the English dubbed version was released by TOKYOPOP in 2003. Reign:the Conqueror aired on Cartoon Network as part of [adult swim] in 2003. Reign:The Conqueror also aired on Showtime Beyond. But no matter what Anime I watch,Reign:the Conqueror is so AWESOME! Rated:(TV-14).

I searched "Reign: The Conqueror openings" and *THIS* is really the best KZbin could come up with. But for those of you who, like me, were curios about the opening narration quotes, I decided to find the episodes through google, and copy them word for word for the reading pleasure of Reign: The Conqueror fans. Episode 1: By rules of mathematical law, did Plato solve that ultimate puzzle known as “The Universe.” The existence of all things is but a reflection of their eternal perfect form, and such form must, by necessity of its very perfection, exist. The law’s proof, the Plato-Hedron, would prove a cursed prize. Sought at the cost of all loyalty, of many an army of heroes. Episode 2: Hellas and Hellenism, the dark science of chaos, the discipline of destruction, the black art whose goal is the end of worlds. From the root Hellas, the dominion of Helen she who was born of chaos, mother god, supernal quintessence of all the world, for all the descendent, in the high priestess of her dark cold, was Olympias, mother of Alexander the Great. Episode 3: Reason. Harmony. Beauty. These are all born of order. The absence of order produces only one offspring: chaos. It is said that when Aristotle abandoned the academy, Plato commented that a young cult kicked and deserted its mother. Gnosis at abandoned thesis, in all millennia to follow, were to stagger in the wake of the aftershock. Episode 4: To the Greeks, the authority to the head of the family was absolute. The legends say the Chronos assumed authority by killing his father, at the behest of his mother. Chronos, in turn, foresaw that history would be repeated, and that his own son, Zeus, would overthrow him. Thus, prophesy and patricide, were closely bound in their mythology from the very beginning. Episode 5: Philosophy was born in Agora, where individuals from opposite ends of the earth gathered together to engage in idealistic discussions. The result was the birth of a great talk, the Socrates dialectics. And so the destiny of Thebes and Athens, hangs in the balance. Episode 6: The concept of a perfect number is believed to exist. According to the principles of Nuclide, the first of these is 6. And yet, there is another belief. The Pythagorean school puts their faith in a sacred emblem, embodying the order of the universe. Episode 7: How many were there? The true wonders of the world. Embracing the divine work in the elements of nature. Encompassing death and reincarnation, the many faces of a moon, the mysterious planets that surround us, and the true heavenly order. We believe there are seven. Episode 8: Architects for Dionysus, so they were called. It was believed that believed that King Solomon hired them to rebuild his temple. They were mystics, worshipers of a god, Dionysus, who passed on their knowledge through secret ceremonies. Secret ceremonies and mathematics. There exists a key, which connects these two. Episode 9: The school of Athens, by the artist Rafael. There stand two people on the right. One, a geometrician. Euclid, the father of geometry. The other, Zoroaster, a prophet holding the heavens. Episode 10: Through the ages, Aristotle’s wisdom has been revered as a universal theory. Homer is thought to be the ideal, and yet, we have Achilles. Who is Alexander? Episode 11: An irrational number is a number that cannot be divided. According to Pythagoras’ scholars, all of creation is numbers. Therefore, the existence of an irrational number makes for quite a controversy. Episode 12: The walls seem to be closing in on Alexander. Ancient prophesies. Powerful enemies. Destiny cannot be undone…or can it? Episode 13: The universe: a constant undulation between chaos and order. They say the only way to purify passion arising from deep within the heart, is mathematics. The only truth of the universe. *phew* Thank GOD KZbin decided to let us type more than a measly 500 characters.

C PT, THANK YOU for that amazing analysis of the ground braking analysis of the series. Most people do not get the greater meaning of the story. Are the characters Gay looking by current opinion?. Maybe, but we are looking at them from our current Barbarian viewpoint. They are amazingly designed and the Art Deco Metropolis like Architecture of the series always impresses me. Alexander might have been bisexual in real life but it takes nothing away from his accomplishments in life.

Torn between lovers, Ash is your prize, Fleeting youth of glory, Burning eyes. Hot blood of passion, pumping in your heart, Divine intervention as the oracle cries. vibhu verma this anime hasn't be created to be historically correct. The principal element is the importance of Alexander for the birth of western civilization. When he says "i'm here to destroy the world", he wants say that his life and his campaing destroyed the old vision of the existance both in Europe and Asia, based on myth, superstition, autocratic power and, most important, relegated around the Mediterranean. Philosopy is the centre of this anime.
@vibhu23roadies11 жыл бұрын
This anime lacks in applying history properly. I was expecting a lot more. And what the hell was last part fighting with King Porus of harappa, India. Alexander was defeated in punjab, India (now in pakistan), they didn't enter an inch. According to greeks they were victorious, according to evidence found by britishers, alexander lost badly and was left to live alive by porus and he even gave lot of gold to porus. Overall this anime is historically incorrect in many places.
@Annubis218 жыл бұрын
I don't know man. Reading Indian historians, Alexander suffered either a loss or a pyrrhic victory. Reading Western historians, it was a Macedonian win, or a pyrrhic victory. No idea.
