Hey doc, somehow I stumbled across your channel 🎉 i think it’s because I’ve been watching guitar lessons. Here’s a few of my unsolicited thoughts about your channel. 1) using the mic is a great idea. It makes the quality of your voice easier to hear. I like your voice! 2) pointing the camera inside the tool shed inside towards the driveway is better. It kind of looks like a set. Almost like you designed it. To me, the tool shed is a part of your image. It’s made me think I need to step my game up with that. 3) your guitar: I’m sure it’s your favorite. My opinion is I’d like to see a more beautiful guitar. Just for visuals. Since I’m experiencing your music visually. 4) your hat: if anyone told me to change my hat, I’d tell them to piss off. But there are some really cool hats out there, maybe get a few more? Maybe wear sunglasses occasionally to create some mystery. 5) check out Carter Vintage guitars your tube channel. Check out their video set. If you could figure out a way to create more of a music set and some cool mystery with your image, I bet your viewer count would go up. You’re so talented. That’s if you even care about all that. I sound like one of those music hacks in Nashville. I could be totally off base. Either way, great playing man! You inspire me 🎉

Thanks Bret. This song is deep and rich with meaning but you have to be willing to do the research to actually plumb the depth of its worth. I’m looking forward to your next video my friend. Doc

Very nice, Doc. You really put a lot of emotion into this old traditional tune. It’s a song that I enjoy listening to and I just might give it a try. I see you brought out old “Gym” that your luthier brother made for you. Great story behind that cigar style guitar. Sounds wonderful. Really enjoyed your take on this song! :-)
@docpatterson77688 күн бұрын
Thanks Bret. I sure wish you could hear my daughter sing this song; she sings it the way the angels sing it. Old Gym loves the old songs and he needed a little love so I cut him loose on a few tunes. I’ll be looking forward to your take on “Wayfarin’ Stranger”. Thanks again. Doc

This is a favourite song of mine. I don't think I have ever heard it at this faster tempo. I think this tempo suits it better.
@docpatterson776812 күн бұрын
Yea, I like it faster as well, but maybe that’s just because it’s a lot of finger-fun to play it that way. Doc

John Denver was gone too soon. His music is kept alive by those who play and sing it; those who hand it on to others.
@docpatterson776812 күн бұрын
To be sure, John was a poetic treasure. I miss his presence. But you’re correct, his music is kept alive at the “pickin” I attend every other week. We play a lot of John Denver songs. Doc

I've always been fond of this John Denver melody. The simplicity of your workshop background outshines any elaborate graphics. Continue playing in the same manner you always have, without any bells and whistles. Another outstanding performance! :-)

We dispense with the “old” too quickly, sometimes, just to make room for the “new”. My fingers seem to prefer the “old” stuff. Thank you Bret, I truly appreciate your insightful and complimentary comments. Doc

Thanks so much Bret. My daughter told me I needed to learn some Avett Bros. music. So far this is all I have. But there’s so much good music to learn from so many songwriters it’s just hard to settle on which one to learn next. Thank you for your generous moral support; it’s priceless. Doc

This really touched my heart, Doc. You're a kind, humble man performing these videos for your children and grandchildren. I agree with you, autumn is the best time of the year. Keep playing the songs your way and you don't need all the fancy technology; you don't need it. I'm glad you're feeling much better, that's great news! I'll be retiring soon, and I would love to come out and visit you one of these days, just to sit around and chat, maybe pick a few chords together. You're a fine man, Doc, a *very* fine man. :-)

Oh Bret, you remind of the old saw “I wish I was the man my dog thinks I am.” God has been immeasurably better to me than I deserve; we call that “grace”. I have a wonderful wife and I still don’t know why she picked me to marry; I certainly didn’t deserve her. We have 4 grown children that have made us proud, and 4 great-grandchildren we love to spoil. And don’t you know, I’m still making friends and discovering new brothers. Thank you, my friend. And, indeed, we need to make some music together, brother! Doc
