When I heard there was a country remake of this song, I pulled it up to listen to it. I wish I hadn't. Some songs should never be remade. This is one of them. In my opinion they did a horrible job. I couldn't listen to the whole thing. Total garbage.

This song reminds me of such better times when I was young! It takes me back to a time when things were simple and life was so sweet. The wonders of childhood and home comes into my thoughts as I listen to this. It makes me almost feel like I am back home and a kid again, with no pressures and life was good. Homesick, yeah, homesick, that is me. I love this and these guys are the best! Oh, if only we could go back in time, but one can never go home again! Bitter Sweet! <3 for these singers!

I can't help but laugh at you guys.. "Did it first, did it better..." and "butchering rock songs." I've been around a long time and have listened to a lot of music over the years. New generations and different genres adapt the great songs to their feel and message. I loved the original Dream Academy song, and this one is just as good - different and perfect in its own way.

Why can't country music artists refrain from butchering rock songs? Oh I forgot, they have no choice since they aren't talented enough to come up with their own songs.

It's a decent version of the song I'll give it that but it's missing something without the timpani and the oboe. That's what gives it the iconic sound that chills you down the spine. Plus, it's not really a song meant for the steal guitar. The original is so haunting about the deep freeze in the UK back in 1963 and the innocent hope the world had with icons like the Beatles and JFK.

Does anyone know if they ever recorded this in a studio? I love the song and think they did a good job with it, but i HATE listening to music recorded in front of an audience..

This version works for me. I think Sugarland and company did a good job on this cover of The Dream Academy's Life in a northern town. Some people just get stuck on the original version and can't see (or hear) anyone else doing the song.

This is a RIPOFF to The Dream Academy the true version is by that band. All country music sucks compared to any British Music. Way to wreck a song Sugarland, you made me puke listening to this.

they all sound good together...little big town has always been my favorite band and along with the voices of sugarland and jake owen...i wud kill to see these guys all in concert together!!!!

I think a lot of people would be freaked out when they realize the original Dream Academy version was produced by Pink Floyd's David Gilmour. The whole album was incredible. A nice job by Sugarland pulling this off.
