Great movie from yesteryear!!s. By the way, James Arness (Gunsmoke's Matt Dillon) also played the monster in the movie "The Thing" (1951) and he's also Peter Graves (TV show Fury and original "Mission Impossible") brother!! ;-)

Edmund Gwen is the old professor. Some may remember him as Kris Kringle in "Miracle on 34th Street". Also, A very young Dick York, from TV's "Bewitched" plays a teenager at the police station. Don't blink or you'll miss it.

July 3, 1971 About the bunkers, quiet as your mom Observes you in your dreams, the Vietnam night Begins to fall, and soon will come her stars To look down on the land's fake harmony. We men with guns again await our fates. We stand or sit on sandbags watching where The dum-dum rounds impact out past the wire. We grin, test-firing in the creeping dark, Convention of Geneva quite forgot. Fast movers roar now empty of their loads. They'll perch at DaNang Air Base for the night. Now: who will own THIS dark? Will Peace, or War? The boys of Uncle Sam or Uncle Ho? And so the sun goes down past Freedom Hill. A great gulf spans between the foes. To our eyes now our compound seems secure; So we begin again to cheat ourselves In doping ecstasies; and do we care Who's there? With all our ordnance close at hand We got the means to smoke the night to day! Got "Puff", got "Spooky" anxious to assist! Besides, our officers, ''they'' safe in bed. We'll toke all night tonight and let ''them'' rest ... Who make "them" selves the gods; who make "their" rules. So snort it up your nose! Inhale, and hold! It's just a pinch of scag; bogart that jay! Soon we've begun to turn ourselves to ghosts. Summon the Muse; The Witching Hour has struck! Our stoner faces melting into masks, With voices whispered, faded, wasted, burned, We bid a feigned "Good-night, Camp David Land . . . " Our weapons, pipes and attitudes have cooled. Atop the sandbag castle kings nod out, Oblivious to time, in Starlight sleep, Too rolling stoned to move - children besot. * Wm Gruendler (after Edmund Blunden), 188 MP Co, 504 MP Bn 18 MPBde Camp David Land, 1971

I loved the scene with Nimoy, his acting wasn't great but then you gotta start somewhere. Parker was always a likeable actor and at 6'5" wasn't even the tallest actor in this movie ... that would have been James Arness at 6'7". The special effects are a joke by todays standards, but back then people knew they had to buy into it and they did.

I've wondered if smoking was what made Nimoy's voice the way it was or if it was all just nature but seeing this, I'm not so sure because he was younger so that may have been why it was higher pitched.

Imagine the concept of being born into trauma, not sin. Birth is traumatic but we are not guilty because of it. I empathize with folks like you who depend on modern versions of the bible. Yeshua never spoke of sin or hell. I recomend reading g thr gospel of Thomas. There is a reason the European tyrants left those books out when they translated them.
