it amazes me that the people who touch so many generations of people are overlooked by the very studios that employed them. I would love to see a film about this mans life & work. Why hasn't this already been done?

My belief and understanding is that he was among many people who worked in the background in those early days of film making and were simply happy to be getting a paycheck. Sadly, we are also a country in love with the new. But when I was a kid growing up near New York City, Our Gang, Laurel and Hardy, and The Three Stooges were on TV every single day. They also showed old cartoons like Betty Boop and Popeye which were made many years earlier. Kids like me like me fell in love with them and stayed in love with them. How lucky for me!

Lake Winnepauket. I like this video. It's difficult to manage an economy based on tourism revenue vs local privacy and environmental issues. From a loon fan. Cheers 👍

I was at this game. I was so touched by the amount of cheers from Sox fans for Derek hitting that home run. At first I lost sight of the ball and heard the cheers and thought the ball must have been caught until I saw him trotting around the bases and was legitimately confused.

Bravo! Just jolted to see your (shorter) clip vanish - the only thing I could find online from this gifted ensemble. But this is even better! You nailed my very favorite song of theirs, (@14:11) right before they had us all to circle the room cha-cha style). From classic cha-cha to chamber music, along with (American) show tunes - they do it all! Thanks again or posting/re-posting this!! (Just checked my photos/vids - I was there on 24 Nov 2017, same musicians & venue.) So sweet...

You inspired me. I had taped the entire performance and so I took down the single piece and replaced it. I have been haunted by the first piece and cannot find out what it is. I even wrote to them but no response. I had met a number of artists in Cuba and have had no luck contacting them by email. Something funny going on I suspect. At the end, I approached the fellow who is at the end and asked him if he knew of the music of Ennio Morricone who does the music for Giuseppe Tornatore's films (one is Cinema Paradiso). Then he began to play it. If you know what that first piece is let me know. Ciao!

And you've inspired me, too. Just checking what I video'd, and what I can share, beyond some small snippets. I totally hear you about the communication issues - especially email. I was asked by one group to take photos & vids and post them, and let them know. I heard back from two people (of 5 or 6), unsure if the others received my mail, but those who wrote apologized for the delay and difficulties with Internet access/bandwidth, still an issue despite more wi-fi (and expensive to download big data). I've posted a few public vids of music from Cienfuegos and Havana, you can find on KZbin if you're interested or via my photo page (with some vids) @ www.fenichel.com/cuba You may enjoy some of it, having been there at the same time and place(s) as me. And PS... Believe me, I know how hard it is matching songs with their names! Best luck! Hasta Luego.

I figured it out. Danzon Legrand by Andres Alen. There are several versions of it on youtube. It is really a piano piece. Gorgeous.
@MichaelFenichel6 жыл бұрын
OK, best guess it the first song is a medley of La Bella Cubana (Jose White) and Danzon Legrand (Andres Alen), but they sort of mix & match some themes. And here's a little snippet I can share easily of one of the songs I liked a lot (of many), which you have too. Though I like mine - the bass player "let his hair down" too. .-- Oops, you're faster than me, and got the Danzon. Meanwhile, though, I uploaded this: kzbin.info/www/bejne/monQeZ9-abCBjqM Cheers!!

They do not speak English, neither much access to the Internet, write in Spanish they may answer back for sure . They've performed in cities in the USA like Seattle, Tacoma and Texas. I was also looking for videos of them, thank you for posting it.
