so i am about to use a shotfit to set up a new browning trap gun with a fixed 70/30 sight. do i need to put the shims in to set up the comb height?
@gracocorporation4 күн бұрын
No, the shims included with the ShotFit are used to adjust the point of impact downrange. The ShotFit will guide you in setting the correct comb height to ensure proper cheek weld and optimal eye alignment with the front bead.

What should we be looking for if we don’t have the Shot Fit?
@gracocorporation7 күн бұрын
Traditionally, without the ShotFit, you'd need to rely on an old-school method using a pattern board. This involves shooting multiple rounds, analyzing the shot pattern, and making manual adjustments to the stock - like adding shims, adjusting the comb, etc. It’s a time-consuming process that often requires trial and error or the help of a professional fitter. The ShotFit simplifies all of this with on-the-fly, precision adjustments.

I would love to try these on one of my Beretta combos if you could move the entire pad to the right. All of your products only allow you to move the toe of the pad. I originally had the regular GRACO adjustable length of pull units but eventually had to go with a different pad adjuster which was made by Rods Custom Stock. I had shoulder surgery this year and I am seriously looking for something to eliminate recoil.

The dreaded 575 install. Shaping Aluminum is painful. I've installed 3 of these (home gunsmith). On the last one, I built a jig to sandwich the piece, and set about 1/16" of cut on my router table and routed the rough shape, after that the rest went smoothly.

Maybe I'm missing something here... New shooter (1 year, finding my way...) but if the first step with the LED's is to get the mount correct, why then would you need to adjust the pad an inch and a half? Surely that was taken into account with the first step? I dunno... just trying to make sense of all the variables that seem to come into play and make good decisions to get more consistent here...
@gracocorporation Жыл бұрын
The adjustment in the pad moves the gun as a whole. The shot fit and the LEDs are used to check adjustments in the comb and eye alignment. The pad positioning did not impact my eye alignment, just a comfort thing to help with a consistent gun mount
@davematthews414 Жыл бұрын
@@gracocorporation ahhh... ok... At the moment, I'm trying to mount the gun consistently to my cheek for 'sighting' (which is another mystery that doesn't seem to be talked about much?), then adjusting my body to get the butt in a comfortable place. TBH, I think I'm not at the standard that this level of detail is aimed at. As a relative beginner, I'd love to be able to go somewhere and shoot a static target first to get a feel for how things work, and understand where the shots land, given how I am mounting the gun, before moving on to moving targets. How can I decide how much lead to give a particular target if I'm not confident that the shot is going where i think it's going?? Add in wind, speed and direction of bird, and other variables, and it becomes pretty much impossible to know what needs to change to get a kill. I can hit 8 out of 10 on one stand, then 1 out of 10 on the next., and not know whether it's the mount/fit or the lead that is the problem. Maybe I'm over thinking the whole thing, but just pointing the gun in the general direction of the target certainly doesn't work :) Here to learn and improve... Thanks for the videos
@gracocorporation Жыл бұрын
@@davematthews414 The Shot Fit is used to help you make sure that you aligned down the rib of your gun and consequently lined up with the front bead. Being aligned with the front bead while having good cheek contact with the stock will lead to success and consistent gun mounts. If your dominant eye is aligned with the front bead then barring any factory defects in your gun you will be as accurate as possible. As far as knowing leads you can get as in depth with math equations, speed of targets, size of shot, velocity of the shot, wind and other factors as you would like. The simplest answer is its a feel thing.

@charlessmith4242 Жыл бұрын
@@davematthews414 * It's always a good idea to shoot at a large sheet of paper with the loads you're planning on using. This will give you an idea where your gun is shooting each given load, and how effective that load is at the distance you're shooting. Your shotgun butt should land in the same spot each time you bring it to your shoulder, that spot will be just on the outside of your collar bone,and not on the shoulder or upper arm. You don't want it mounted to low so that it's on the chest, nor to high so that part of the butt is above the shoulder. When a shotgun fits the shooter perfectly the butt and the comb should meet their corresponding flesh at the same time. At that moment, the dominant eye will be looking squarely down the middle of the rib, and the line of sight will be positioned above the rib. How much above varies depending on the preference of the shooter, but at no time should the shooter's line of sight or sight picture be blocked by the back of the receiver, as that will cause the shot to go low. Most people will learn to fit themselves to their gun stock instead of the other way around. This is acceptable for most clay target shooting where the gun is pre mounted prior to the appearance of the target, but for most hunting a well fitted gun is a real asset due to the sudden and innumerable variety of shots that are presented to the shooter. As far as lead is concerned, Go to skeet range and there will be someone there that can look over your shoulder and tell you where you are shooting. They'll be able to tell you if your behind or above, below, etc., and often by how much. The skeet targets are thrown to a set distance and speed. If a shooter breaks his targets at or around the center stake, his shots will be no more than approx. 20--22 yards away. Remember, to hit a moving target the shooter must be able to do two things at the same time. He must be able to pull the trigger while he keeps his gun barrel moving. Hope this helps you.

It’s one of the shotguns that has all the bells whistles, had it had adjustable ribs that would be a 10,000/-$ shotgun equal. Few things I did was replace the brass mid bead to an ivory mid bead & the front to a glow green insert , 9$ at Cabela’s. I love ve this , it’s excellent triggers are unmatched to my B725 or the MX8
