I loved Mont St Michel! I'm sorry you didn't go to the Abby. It's got amazing views, as you might already know. If you haven't left yet , and it's not terribly compromising to Sunny, you might consider leaving him in the van and going to see the Abby. I loved that place would love to go back one day.
@hedgecomber3 күн бұрын
It is a shame as the weather has changed now and is totally gorgeous, so the views would be perfect 😩

Thank you for this little tour. I've been wanting to return to this island for decades. The last and only time I visited was in 1959, when I was eight! An ancient ancestor, Conan I of Rennes, Duke of Brittany, ‘le Tort’ (the Wrong), was buried in the abbey of Mont Saint-Michel after he died on 27 Jun 992 fighting his brother-in-law, Fulk Nerra, Count of Anjou (another ancestor) at the Battle of Conquereuil (probably TMI). I guess if you didn't go into the abbey, you missed his grave!! xo
@hedgecomber3 күн бұрын
Mary, that’s amazing! I wish I knew that story before going as I would’ve made a point of going into the abbey and hunting him down! Also, the fact that you have so much history on your ancestors is just incredible to me!

One of the nicest places we have visited. We can’t visit France without dropping by. It’s like an old friend. If you are heading south, try Ile de Rè. We traveled there many years ago on one of our motorbike Grand Tours. I’m sure there’s park ups for campers. La Baule-Escoublac has one of Europe’s nicest beaches. I believe there is still camper parking at Allees De Bristol in Bordeaux and you know what the appeal is there 🍷 🥘 🧀 Still enjoying your video updates. Bon Voyage from Phileas and Aouda Fogg
@hedgecomber3 күн бұрын
Nice! Thanks for the recommendations Phileas! We have a vineyard park up lined up for Bordeaux to keep the Grumpy Builder/sweet bloke that’s doing ALLLLL the driving happy 🤣 Did you ever visit Mont St Michel in the summer, if so was it crazy busy?
@foggsontour-3inat43 күн бұрын
@ we have been dozens of times. Yes, the summers are very busy, especially if you’ve got a dog on a lead. The trick to summer is to eat in the village and then walk down when everyone has gone home and explore it when it’s empty. A complete different experience.

Great video, I have SUBSCRIBED, I make a lot of my own items and religious stuff like pendants etc etc, it is not easy in the UK for craft sellers as the climate is mostly cold for direct selling, so we are somewhat FORCED onto time consuming ONLINE selling and expensive UK posting items out. Ray in Norwich city..

I used Etsy for years but closed my shop down purely because payment issues but now more importantly they are allowing scammers to sell AI created images of embroidery, knitting and crochet designs patterns, once you purchase these patterns your design will never look like it should based on the image from the kit.

I visited in Caen in the early 90s. There was a campground there something with Les Cappucines? in the name? Caen is another DDay Beach. Shouldn't be hard to find? Cheers.

Brocilande forest in Brittany (town is called Paimpont) is where Merlin and others inhabited. May be of interest since your Cornish history is shared with this place. Has a nice aire for 6 euros right in the town and walks around the lake/forest.

Built an Etsy shop selling records. Someone said something about 1 or 2 items weren't vintage, shop got locked, sales got locked. I tore the whole lot down the next day, has to pay £35 listing fees. I built a Shopify store and it links to Ebay via a plugin. Been using Ebay for 23 years, no problems.
