Just started making progress on backflying. It's been a rough start for me. I started last summer and then stopped when I started AFF. DZ is closed for a few more weeks so I've been at it. Saturday I learned if you hammer yourself at the gym everyday it's probably not a great idea to schedule tunnel time. After just a few rotations I had to switch to sitfly drills because my delts were on fire😂 Love seeing the progress!!

You probably get better tips from your coach, but I'd say, get some more upper body lift and some momentum upwards before pulling your knees in. Having some ascending movement makes it less scary and more wind pressure on your chest takes care of half of the transition.

Thing that made them click for me was over exaggerating the amount I brought my up toward my chest with knees wide apart as if you’re knee flying, particularly belly to back, then holding that position until I was in stable back fly. Back to belly was the same plus exaggerating the feeling of leading with my chest and leaving my head behind, if you get what I mean.
