Did you find it difficult to turn on concrete? Because there's no differential on the axle but instead it's a solid shaft and the wheels are not independent. I noticed in your video when you were turning it you were actually pulling kind of hard did you find it difficult as well?
@EastCoastStreamers9 ай бұрын
It turns pretty well on hard surfaces. It takes a little more effort on softer surfaces but it's still workable. There is weight on the ParkIt tires when it's hooked up to the trailer so when you are changing direction while it is still, it takes a bit to pull it the direction you want to go but I wouldn't say it's difficult.

Great video. Thanks for posting… I actually just purchased all the supplies you listed and will attempt to copy your install… We just purchased a new to us 23 AS GT 27FBT.. is there anything else I need to do? Some FB posts indicate you have to swap out the converter and adjust the Solar Controller… Can’t beat Big Batteries price and it seems to have a great deal of positive reviews…

The 2023 model has an auto switching converter so you should be good to go! For the solar controller, you would need to use the app to configure the battery settings based on the size of your battery.

Have you attempted sourdough or breads in the rv oven? I am goin full time but want to switch out our diet. Wondering if there are any rv'rs who do bake sourdough and any tips would be great.
@EastCoastStreamers9 ай бұрын
Hmm - sourdough. I haven't tried that yet but I have definitely baked traditional yeast rising bread as well as cookies, bsquits, muffins, roasts, chicken, casseroles. You name it, I've baked it in the tiny RV oven. As for tips - - Your dish needs to be rotated. Depending on the length of time your dish requires, I rotate 3 or 4 times during the bake. For bread I just rotate one time. - a pizza stone or tiles will help regulate the oven temperature - try not to open the oven door or keep it open for very long as the tiny oven cools off pretty quickly and your bake time will increase. Happy baking!!

I discovered your channel thanks to this video and then I proceeded to watch about 6 more video's. All in all a lot of very useful content! I don't recall you talking about the master plan for this battery, so I was wondering: What is the end game here? Why are you putting the battery in the truck and not in the Airstream? I ask because I am contemplating the same thing... We will be getting an Airstream this year to do a lot of boondocking. I see two options: A) the more conventional approach of upgrading the electrical system in the Airstream, putting tons of solar on the roof, etc. In your video about selling your Globtrotter 23FB you talked about doing all that stuff. B) Build the battery system in the tow vehicle (tv). Installing 5kWh~15kWh of battery in the bed of the TV. Installing 800~1000 watts on the roof of the TV. Install a second solar MPPT so there can be deployable panels. An inverter/charger that will provide the 240v AC (ours will have 2 air conditioners). And finally install two plugs, one to hook the Airstream up to the truck and the other to allow the truck to be hooked to shore power. The advantage I see to the conventional approach is that Airstream is always ready to go and 100% independent, with nothing to hook/unhook, easy-peasy! Also if the batteries are in the Airstream, then they will will be operating at normal temps. I see some disadvantages: When you sell the Airstream the electrical system goes with it. The space needed for 10kWh or more of the battery takes a lot of space in the Airstream. And if the only solar is on the Airstream, it always has to be in the sun to get power. My number one advantage to option B is not having to modify the Airstream and losing the investment in the electrical system. I also like the idea of not giving up the space in the Airstream for the battery. And then there is the advantage of being able to put the Airstream under a tree for some shade while keeping the truck and solar out in direct sunlight. The way I plan to solve the downside of less room in the TV is by getting a long bed. The other downside, sort of, is having to have the TV tethered to the Airstream. Since we plan to always have two vehicles and the TV is truly just a mule, that should not be a concern for us. Q: One big concern I have is operating temps. What did you find out about how hot the battery got when fully loaded on with your 3000w inverter? Q: The 3000-watt inverter, is the objective to hook the Airstream into the inverter as if it was shore power? If so, how is that working for you? Q: Have you used it in winter camping when temps are too low to charge the battery? If so, how did that go? (Side note, our current teardrop has a lithium battery in it with a heater, when the battery is too cold and detects a power source, it turns on a heater to get the battery warm enough to take a charge. Does your battery do that?) Q: Why did you choose the battery you did?
@EastCoastStreamers9 ай бұрын
Hi Sam. The intention for the battery in the truck is - 1) to have backup power from the trailer in an emergency; and 2) to provide power to various tools and electronics (with a 3k watt inverter). This battery will be charged via solar panels on the truck roof and a DC-DC charger from the truck alternator.

Remember: it is essential that the final wrap be fully and completely water tight. This includes sealing the upper end to the tank enclosure and the lower end to the discharge pipe. If not the batt insulation will become saturated with road spray and all insulating value will be lost. I might be tempted to use rubber roof repair tape or something similar and of like durability for the weather-tight final wrap. Consider the likely impact of road debris in selecting wrapping materials.
