Long time no chat. Sesquicentennial hard to catch fish. You either get bait stealing fish or turtles. We should go fishing together sometime. Me and fam just got back from camping at myrtle beach state park.

For catfish and bottom feed fish do not use a bobber. The bait is not able to sit along the bottom where the catfish are feeding🐟 Use something like bits of hot dogs, chicken liver or some stink bait to attract the catfish.😊

Hi, Pr. 😎 You were asking for a few beginner tips. I noticed you are slipping the hook onto the lead swivel. This is to be used as a lead line attachment. You should tie on a about a 12" to 14" long fishing line THEN tie your hook on the end of that for your bait🎣

Thanks so much for watching. I have to remember, like I’m sure that you do that even the pros sometimes don’t catch anything and that there are some many factors why fish don’t bite from the type of bait to even the weather

I'm a couple years late but the spider you kept coming across is a Joro. Native to Asia, it was frst spotted in GA and will be making it's way up to NJ and NY very soon. They're not a threat to humans, their mouths are too small to puncture our skin so the venom won't effect us.

It is pretty deep right there. And you can definitely catch catfish right at that spot. Looks like that gage height is about 11ft. That's a perfect flowing river for catfish too. I'd use 3/4 oz to 1 oz egg sinker. Carolina rig is fine, but I'll usually set it up in a drop shot with a nightcrawler. What you want to do is cast it out to the other side of the river slightly upstream to your position and let it work its way down stream a bit before bringing it back in. The stronger current is on the other side in this part of the river, and that's where the catfish are at.

Your mental strength is the biggest part of any thru hike or extended outdoor experience. I’m an outdoor athlete who hikes 80 miles a week on average with at least 1 or 2 / 20 mile days each week on the trails. I’m based in south west Washington State at the base of Mt. Rainier. I am a black man, 55 years old and farmed cattle for 15 years until 18 months ago when i retired. I hike with my 2 trail dogs who are very high energy and need the endurance training we do in our hills. My farm is by the Willapa Hills Trail (a rail trail) where we do our winter training. As a black man out in the PNW it’s a different experience than you would probably have on the east coast. First, I’m extremely remote. I’m usually the only other trail steward out in many parts out here besides the WA State ranger (Eric) who has a massive territory. By trail steward i mean one who helps to maintain the trails, cutting away fallen trees with hand tools on steep slopes, and things like that. For me, it’s a lifestyle being out here with the dogs. It’s a way of life thats very vast to explain. I once lived in the city, had a small construction management company, but through circumstances of life, found myself buying land in a wilderness in hopes of starting a small college for black youth in the PNW. There’s not a lot of us out here and those of us with the means and skills owe it to those that don’t realize the value of understanding the outdoors and how key it is to all our future challenges, the responsibility of creating options for them to see and reach towards and be received with open arms by one of their own. It’s been a 15 year journey of ups and downs with out the progress i had hoped for with the college, but out of it has come a different kind of person thats fit in all the ways that are important. 4 years ago, i had a heart attack in the woods and had to hike my way several miles to the truck to drive myself to a hospital. I could not have done that without my outdoor fitness base, but more importantly i found it was my mentality of being able to break down in my mind, what was happening in my chest, not panicking, walking myself one foot at a time using a “ 1, 2, 3, 4, - 5, 6, 7, 8” rhythm count and cadence. I let that repeated count be the motor or beat that kept my feet moving. While my immediate presence stayed in touch with my body and my breathing. Managing the mind begins with small short hikes that take you to places where you can’t see around the corner for good sections at a time. When you can’t see where you came from and you can’t see where the trail is going, the mind has a way of slipping back into our tuning with the trail. You go from the vastness of the long hike to a seance of that steady cadence that gets you thru just that section. Slowly you learn to handle the overwhelming nature of it all and it passes in small manageable doses. Good luck out there. If you are ever out west. Look me up in Lewis county, WA by Rainbow Falls State Park. Everyone knows the black dude with the 2 black dogs that hikes the trails daily. Peace.
