Ovuda na Kučaju 2003 prošli smo usiljenim maršem 9 pešadijska brigada zaječar, svež vazduh 70 kilometara preko Troglan Bare bukve po 30 metara visoke. Polumrak u šumi a podne je tek, paprat gazimo a ispod nogu na pola metra ispod zemlje čuo se šum, huk, kaže oficir da je to voda što pionire ispod stene. Cela je planina podvodna. Kažu da su tamo rudnici prošli ispod sela pa su zidovi na kućama popucali i sležu čitave kuće. Lepši je ono kraj nego Zlatibor za mene, vuče me srce da ide tamo ponovo. Svaka čast onom narodu što tamo opstaje i istrajava.

Yeah, they're normally put in storage during those times i believe perhaps it's a sort of "Well if diesel fails, we do have something to go with" unsure tho

I do not see these engines as old outdated tech. I see them as outstanding survivors of a bygone era, still relevant into modern times due to fitness for the job! Plus who doesn't love giant thundering steam locomotives, regardless of the flag on them!

Yugoslav clone of USATC S100 SHUNTER/YARD LOCOMOTIVE; so efficient after WWII, that Yugoslavia built several hundred for the JZD eventually inherited by Serbian Railways after 1990s civil war. A "short life" military design of US 1943, lasting well over 80 years! DocAV

Летом 1982 года довелось служить на границе в тех краях и в бинокль наблюдались те же паровозы. Уже тогда это поражало архаичностью происходящего так как в СССР паровозы почти уже не использовались.

Steam locomotives didn't fade out in the USSR, they all faded when the USSR dissolved.

Woundful old Locamotives they look well cared for. Mostly White exhaust says it.
