i am a singaporean. my view is what is one china? PRC or ROC? in ROC law, it include mainland and taiwan. But PRC has never rule taiwan for 1 single day, how can u say taiwan is part of PRC? yes from ROC law taiwan is part of china but back then it was still under ROC just that ROC sucks at governing china such that it was fragment by many warlords. So to solve this stalemate, from taiwan perspective they cannot declare independence but everyone knows taiwan is independence in terms of having their own government, currency, army, flag, national anthem, the only thing lack of is international recognition. From china perspective, they are being bounded by one china policy that make it so rigid that there is no room for negotiation. yes they say one country 2 systems, but see how hong kong freedom suffer under this so called one country 2 systems. they keep saying one china and taiwan is part of china. so since history shows taiwan was part of china during the ROC period, is mainland able to accept unification under ROC and not PRC? if not why are they forcing ROC aka taiwan become part of PRC? if u look at the history the land that was govern by china differs for every dynasty. so why so stuck up on this? mongolia did conquered and governed china during yuan dynasty so is china part of mongolia? why not china take a step back let taiwan declare independent and form a chinese union like EU, please take note here the chinese is not china chinese but chinese as a race or geographical region. then from enemy become union member to built a better economy to improve the livelihood of the people of both countries. I take it is like 2 brothers each got married and form their own family, but they are still bond together as a union just having their own family aka country. why cause so much tension just because of "one china policy" there is a chinese saying ”本是同根生,相煎何太急“ okay?so can from 一国两制 become 一盟两国。
