So what would you consider the best physical release for Wallace and Gromit? Was going to get the standard Blu Ray version but the audio issues has somewhat put me off

Fantastic film, cut backs to other angles of “the wrong trousers” giving us an alternative view. I worried about the lack of Bob Baker, didn’t seem to effect it or the critics score at all.

Wait so is the audio in PAL or NTSC and is the video on the 4K blu ray release PAL or NTSC .

The Wallace and gromit holders at around 50 mins look to be for boiled egg and soldiers

I thought the dialogue was pretty poor, especially considering the other entries in the series. I also thought some of it was eerily reminiscent of what an AI might spew out, especially at the canal boat finale. And characters kept stating the obvious or what was about to happen as well. I don't think I'll be watching it again, bah humbug.

I now own both these steelbook variants too. To be honest, I'm keeping them both in seal (paid to much for them), but plan to grab a standard 4K Edition to open and watch.

What is the best version to watch Wallace & Gromit? I'm from the US, and I like old animated shows and Wallace & Gromit is something that is a part of my childhood.

Sigh… thanks bub. From what you’re saying, sounds like it’s just not worth the fight… and by fight I mean, ordering these and making them watchable via ripping and editing… too many other things demanding my attention (entertainment and otherwise). I just wanted a convenient and mostly correct way watch some great feel-good stopmotion shorts… maybe when I’m knocking on death’s door 40 some years from now, someone will finally do a proper restoration with HDR. And I’ll be too old and blind to care. 😅 (Or maybe I’ll have time eventually to put together a decent edit… or find one…)

I still have just the DVD (same cover as that bluray), signed by Bob Baker. The audio edits and cropped picture put me off ever upgrading as i just didn't see it as a clear upgrade...more like a trade-off. All i want is the versions as they were shown on TV, lookig and sounding best they can. Is that too much to ask for? I guess it's a George Lucas situation we have here were endless releasing will come out but they'll all be tweaked and altered in some way.

Weird question, does the video slightly skip on the extras disc's A Grand Night In documentary when David Tennant is talking about the bath scene in The Pirates? It's something I noticed on my copy and I wonder if it's just my copy being scratched somehow (despite me being careful with it) or it's a general problem with the release.

A lot of 4k releases are SDR only

Oodles of 4K releases do not have HDR or Dolby Vision, especially older movies.

The Lionsgate blu ray release is easily the best. The frame rates and aspect ratios are correct, and it also includes Cracking Contraptions.

The Super Mario Bros 4k is also in SDR.

Does the menu on this release have the same newspaper menu as the 2009 and 2019 version?

HDR is really, really, really yes really expensive. It wasn't added to the Clint Eastwood Man with No Name trilogy either, which is so annoying.

the 4k version is ai upscaled and on dvd, disc 1 is exactly the same as the last release, its a 2 entertain version with no bbc logos, but disc 2 has bbc studios and the bbc 100 ident and such

There are quite a few 4K UHDs without HDR. The reasons for some of them were when they tried to colour correct for the greater range, the picture didn’t look right. That said many of them look good even without HDR

Im a little miffed wallace mug and gomit mug both have the handles on the same side. the should have opposite handles so you and your significant other can chime mugs together

Thank you for the audio track (and will credit you). I was planning to edit the LD audio and sync this to the 2009 Lionsgate/HIT Entertainment US BD release. I do have to cut the audio by 882 ms and high pitch the audio by 4.16% using Audacity since the PAL pitch has the correct orchestrated score sound instead of the NTSC pitch which sounds weird for the first three shorts (giving I did grew up with NTSC regions, but W&G is the exception to the rule). I am still doing the LD audio as it turns out the NTSC audio has speed up with 25 fps instead of 24 fps (slow down by 4% to use Blu-ray's same speed as the LG release) which is indeed using the PAL speed
