Thank you, this is a precious document, hearing Gary singing with the old way voice, you reading your poem, filming Gary's place, oui la joie juste ramasser des champignons.

Another lovely video. Thank you Ping Wang! I loved your poem, and I love Gary’s singing voice! If you have a chance, please tell him there’s a musician in New Jersey who is a big fan of his singing! ☺️🎶

We have a long Chantrelle season here in Oregon this year as it's been a warm winter. The harvest has been plentiful! We have both white and golden Chantarelles. Lovely poems.

Hello Ms. Ping Wang. I appreciate your work videotaping and recording Gary Snyder. Could I ask you a favor? When Gary is speaking, it makes it difficult to hear when you have the guitar music mixed in over his voice. Also it's a different rhythm than the poem, so we can't hear that clearly. Since you have been given the immense privilege of being able to document such a great man, I would hope you could let the man speak without adding in cutaways to other visuals, or drowning out his voice with background music. Again, I thank you.

live recording at the concert. I was far away, so forgive me for the light quality, but the sound should be decent, because Sundin Hall has one of the best sound qualities in the state.

I spent time a Hokoji Zendo in Taos with Stan ''Butan'' White who was a friend of Gary's and a student of Suzuki Roshi. At 93 he made a point of telling me not to waste my life as a monk in a Zendo but to use my time there to broaden my vision of what would come after. Stan was cantankerous, gruff and funny. He was right of course, the life inside a monastery is no different than outside, except it may be a little quieter.

Strictly from a production point of view, maybe better if they either faced each other, as in an actual conversation ( which they are having) or, if she was off camera, and his face was featured more directly. As in documentary style. This angle with them seated side by side is awkward for the viewer....I feel as tho she is ready to just slide out of the frame! He's really the one we want to focus on here anyway... I don't know who the woman is so, from my view, it would be so much more powerful to actually feature our 'guest', Gary! She being on camera but seated to his right feels as tho she is not really engaged in the conversation but 'just sort of happened by'....😯 I'd do this Ken Burns style documentary with cutaways of him maybe walking around his property, maybe holding one of his books and or more close ups on his face! The conversations just barely inches by - it could be so different! He's a fascinating and brilliant man!! You want to really bring that out in him!

thanks for the suggestions. It was a casual selfi-chat . I had lots of questions about his place, and Gary enjoyed answering my questions sitting next to me. We decided to record it with my phone, selfi-style. There is no budget, no intention for a documentary. People seem to enjoy this casual free flowing style. If I set it up as an official documentary style, the conversation will be stiff, and I doubt Gary would have agreed to be videoed in the first place. I thank you for your input again.
