I just picked up the f-22 90mm second hand setup for 8S. It looks like he was running dual 4S packs. Would you suggest a single 8S or twin 4S, and if so what size? Thanks
@JetJockey_RCАй бұрын
Either double 4s or single 8s is fine. Mostly depends on your charging setup. A single 8s is more convenient and saves a little weight, but also more expensive. I tape together pairs of 4s packs out of the box to ensure they are always charged at the same time and used together. 4500-6000mAh is the sweet spot. I've been mostly around 5200mAh because I like the agility and manuverability of a light plane.

@@JetJockey_RC great info. Thanks for taking the time to include some details. I’ve been waiting for the new SMC HV packs but they’re always back ordered. Might have to go with something else for the time being just to get it in the air. Thanks!
@JetJockey_RCАй бұрын
@ltk20 My new SMC pack has been holding up great after about 10 flight sessions. You can get a pair of 4s at almost half the cost of the SMC. The gains gains are nominal, unfortunately.

Had to change it from $1000 to $1500 after I actually added it all up all the parts. Which do you think sounds better? 🤔 🤣 This is the Freewing F-22 90mm!
@tysonhaas1792 ай бұрын
@@JetJockey_RC to be completely honest, to me it’s sad to watch any of your aircraft crash, regardless of the price. Of course, $1500 definitely hits the wallet harder, and when you’re spending that much on a plane, you have a different perspective of the term “painful to watch”. I had a beautiful 1.5m P-38 that I spent 4 months building, and during the maiden, it was the best flying, most beautiful looking plane I’d ever owned. Unfortunately, just after the 3 minute mark while getting into the traffic pattern to land, one of the 3 bladed props on the left engine fractured and broke off the hub, and I watched this gorgeous warbird that I worked on so hard, roll over and nose dive 200+ feet into the ground. I tried everything I could think of to save her but it was a total loss. My point is simply this…even though I only had around $400 invested in her, it still hurt emotionally as much as it would crashing a $1500 or $15,000 plane, but it’s definitely an entirely different feeling of loss when you have that much money tied up in a plane when you crash it.

That's a wonderful story I think all RC pilots can relate to Tyson! The amount of labor and love put in to the craft has no dollar amount. I was told by a wise man that all of these aircraft are on rental...you'll never keep them forever! Luckily this one was an easy fix given the catastrophic conditions!

Sam uses the sliders on Spectrum too. I have yet to make the move to elrs...I see the benefit of them being much cheaper, but I hear they are confusing to program at first. I have seen so much robustness from the crossfire system I am hesitant to move away yet.
