If you are going to run gasoline in the generator there are a few things that you should do. 1 Always mix fuel stabilizer in the gasoline (PRI-G is the best but Stabil is good enough). You might want to run something like Marvil mystery oil or Lucas fuel treatment for extra lubrication. 2 Try to run the generator dry (or at a minimum empty the carb bowl). 3 Octane is not a measure of power but resistance to ignition. You can use the 87 octane perfectly fine (Most generators say use 87 octane). High octane is not worth the extra money. 4 This might be excessive but find a good spark plug and use it (Many good generators come with low quality spark plugs, and/or improperly gaped spark plugs).

Silly question from a female with limited knowledge on generators. So the Marvil mystery oil is added to the oil area correct? I have some STP oil treatment but will be purchasing some Marvil mystery oil because I keep hearing positive reviews about it.
@johnsmithfakename8422
@johnsmithfakename8422 12 күн бұрын
@@steffiejoe Marvel mystery oil is a STRANGE thing. It can be added to oil or fuel. If added to oil it can act as a cleaner and help get some contaminates into solution. What I am referring to is adding the oil to the fuel to improve upper cylinder lubrication (do not use a lot). This is not necessary but at the same time it can be beneficial. Some say it reduces friction, some says it improves compression. What I understand is that it can work to slightly improve fuel economy (not by big numbers). I also think a good spark plug is necessary. I run an iridium spark plug in my generator and it runs better with Iridium compared to the stock one. The real issue with running gas in a generator is not the fuel itself but that the fuel is hygroscopic-ish (It attracts water). When water is attracted to the fuel it combines with the ethanol in the fuel and causes a lot of problems. This is the main reason fuel goes bad. Fuel stabilizers help keep fuel good but they tend to do little with fuel attracting water (HEET is something that helps but it is just Methanol and Methanol blends with the water helping it burn a little better).

Don’t forget to run it on high octane gas with stabilizer gas once in a while, moisture in propane will corrode the internals of carburetor . Let it run out of gas or propane when you shut it off .

Seriously, no one talks about this. I’m focusing on using propane to avoid the water and gasoline issues. Never heard that propane can have moisture issues also and corrode the carburetor.

I can’t find a champion at the same rating or in a duel fuel with a remote. The remote makes a major difference. Champions has electric start but I struggle with the pull start generators. I read champion does not do remote start on propane generators because of a NEC code, something about it’s dangerous to use a remote. I don’t really understand, tried to search NEC for the specific code but no luck.

What’s the attraction of Champion generators? Price? I bought my Honda generator fully assembled with a store warranty. Delivered to my house & wheeled into my shed. It came with oil in the engine & enough gas to try it out. I’ve had it for seven years & it starts on the first pull. It delivers clean 60 cycle power better than the power company provides. The Honda on economy mode is 54 decibels. A lot less than 74 decibels. The Honda is nominally rated at 5500 watts & I’ve tested it to 9200 watts.

@ If you need more power than 9200 watts? Then you can buy another EU 7000is. That will double your available power. As for price? You can’t put a price on safety. I contemplated buying a second EU 7000is? We have town water & sewer. We have a propane stove & dryer. Our hot water is on demand from our oil furnace. The only big draw is the 2-1/2 ton central air. With everything on in our 1700 sqft house we draw 3600 watts. That’s including the central air. We have plenty of reserve power.

@ We lost power after storm Isais & we had our Honda generator & it performed flawlessly. We were all without power for three days. My neighbors saw we were not affected at all & wanted to know why? They were not even aware we had a generator? That’s how quiet our generator is. They all came over to see our set up. They took lots of pictures & wanted to know if we were happy with it? Then Ofcourse the conversation turned to price. They were in utter shock over our cost ($14K). I told them that to treat it like an insurance policy. You hope you never need it? If you do your family is safe. The next storm we had we lost power for a day. One neighbor never bought a generator. The other two didn’t buy what I recommended. One bought a champion. His wouldn’t start. The other bought a little suitcase style model. None complained but were jealous that ours was very competent. Last summer the neighbor with the Champion had to have his serviced. The carburetor was fouled with stale gas & it needed a full tuneup. Meanwhile my generator is 7 years old & all I’ve done is change the oil once a year. I’m going to see if his starts for the next storm? My money is on it won’t start again. His Champion is soo loud it could wake the dead. When his is on? You can’t hear mine standing next to mine. If you plan on sleeping with your generator running at night? Better get ear plugs.

10mins on and 15 minutes off equates to 9 hours and 45 minutes of irrigation per day. My aeroponic towers need less than 25 minutes a day. Measure how much water the plants remove from the reservoir per day and you`ll find its a tiny fraction of the amount you are pumping through the tower.

I can not find any videos about my specific way of installing mine. I did find other methods and a reason for the problem. Was hoping you could help or a viewer can. So I purchased the heated chicken waterer from FandH this winter. It's just a 5 gallon bucket with a handle, top, and the plug for the heater unit. These do have the water nipples installed on the side of that bucket, not the bottom like you have. This is nice for me because I don't have to hang the bucket. It just sets on the ground. So I purchased water nipples and a 5 gallon bucket to make my own. The package for the nipples does say to install the nipples to my spacing on the side of the bucket. So I did my first nipple. It was not leaking, did good. I continued to put in 4 more nipples around the bucket generously spaced. I added water just over the nipples. To make sure my threads didn't leak. They do not. My problem is all the nipples are now leaking from where the chicken would peck at. It's set up exactly the same as my water I bought from FandhH. So I looked online, and it says the nipples at that specific area will leak water if my water pressure is incorrect. But it was referring to then using PVC pipe and not a 5 gallon bucket like mine. So I can't figure out what I did wrong to stop the leak. Can anyone please help and let me know what to do? Now I have holes in a 5 gallon bucket I don't want to waste. But I prefer the nipples on the side and not under the bucket. Thank you!!!!!!!
@tomlee3084
@tomlee3084 Жыл бұрын
The bucket might not be airtight allowing air in (not through the waterers) and causing leakage. Ideally you would all the nipples being on a similar level as the others as well if possible. If the leak is coming from the threads or if air is getting in through the threads then you could apply pvc cement or a water sealant to the threads and twist it back in place before it dries. I hope someone has helped you or you found a solution that worked if what I said doesn’t help.
